Re: Greek Yogurt
Yogurt lovers,
Tried a couple more this weekend. The Voskos full fat was super creamy and rich, tasted almost identical to the Trader Joe's yogurt, maybe a little bit richer tasting, but very very close. Nice thick texture. I wouldn't be surprised if they make the Trader Joe's yogurt. Next I tried the Stonyfield Oikos 0% Honey. Best 0% one so far by a mile. Great thick/smooth flavor and texture. Obviously not as rich as the full fat ones, but still very good and creamy. The big negative here was the honey at the bottom. Not dense sticky delicious honey like the Fage, this is a watery honey syrup crap, really lame. If this had good honey, it would probably be an A. I'm gonna shift a couple of the other rankings down a bit based on this.
Current rankings:
Fage Total w/ Honey - A+
Trader Joe's Honey - A
Voskos Full Fat Honey - A
Stoneyfield Oikos 0% Honey - B
Chobani 0% Vanilla - B-
Voskos 0% Honey - C-
Wallaby Lowfat Honey - D
Picked up a couple more - Better Whey of Life and Greek Gods. Also picked up siggi's icelandic skyr because it sounds interesting. Will try and make a Safeway trip soon to explore other varieties.

In the same boat, but tried the raspberry first. Gave it a fair shake by itself (agree with the "pretty tasty" rating), then dumped a bunch of this in it...
Upgraded to very tasty. Thank you 2p2.

Re: Greek Yogurt
I have been feeling ill the last few days and struggling to eat much so thought about ordering some greek honey yoghurt after reading this thread.
It's just arrived with the rest of my groceries order and it is fantastic. I don't know why I never thought of getting it before. Easy to eat, tastes great and healthy I assume.

Re: Greek Yogurt
Yogurt fans,
Tried the last batch. First off, skyr is weird/gross. Not a fan.
Better Whey of Life. This is 1.5%. Pretty tasty, nice texture, pretty creamy and rich. However, it's more of a traditional yogurt flavor as opposed to Greek style. If this were more traditional "greek flavor" it would prob get an A.
Greek Gods. Full fat honey flavor. Damn, this is delicious stuff. The richest/creamiest of the group. Very traditional greek yogurt style/flavor, great texture/mouthfeel. I slightly prefer the Fage style of separate honey where you get that sour/sweet contrast as opposed to this blended style, but this is really delicious yogurt.
Current rankings:
Fage Total w/ Honey - A+
Greek Gods Honey - A+
Trader Joe's Honey - A
Voskos Full Fat Honey - A
Better Whey of Life Lowfat Strawberry - B
Stoneyfield Oikos 0% Honey - B
Chobani 0% Vanilla - B-
Voskos 0% Honey - C-
Wallaby Lowfat Honey - D

Re: Greek Yogurt
I use this to make a 1/2 gallon batch of my own organic probiotic yogurt, with no b.s. added, just milk and probiotic cultures:

Then I make my own greek yogurt by putting my probiotic homemade yogurt into this for about 24 hours in the fridge:

If you use fat free milk, the above basically drains off 2 cups of whey out of the 3 cups of plain yogurt, and you are left with a cup of yogurt cheese/greek yogurt that has 20g of protein and pretty much no carbs. And obv, you have an insane amount of beneficial probiotic bacteria in it; anything comercial will not come even close, b/c their production fermentation is too short to allow a significant amount of bacteria cultures to grow. Also, by fermenting the original batch for about 24 hours, converts ALL of the lactose into lactic acid, so if you are someone who has issues with lactose digestion, the stuff that you make youself will pretty much solve this issue! Most of the yogurt and other fermented dairy bought in the store, will STILL have some amount of lactose in it, b/c they simply don't ferment their products long enough for all the lactose to be consumed by the bacteria cultures. And obv, you can always add w/e you like to the final product, e.g. berries, honey, vanilla, other fruit, jam, etc.

Re: Greek Yogurt
I do not like how tangy non-greek yogurt tends to be or the consistency, but the latter seems to be a non-issue with Greek Yogurt.
Before I raid my Whole Foods market, how tangy is greek yogurt in relation to these other, inferior yogurts? I'm sure if I get a flavour such as honey or vanilla it would downplay what I dislike about yogurt, and add some ingredients that would help to suppress it as well

Re: Greek Yogurt
Does Greek yogurt taste like labneh?
If so, putting fruit etc in it sounds gross. Eat it the Middle Eastern way, with olive oil, cucumbers, olives, etc.

Get vanilla Chobani in the "larger" tub. Creamy and sweet. I like to crush up some peanuts in mine.
