That's a small ass price to pay. Grandma is being reasonable. Sure at face value it sounds weird for her to charge you but as others have said she has a lot of work to do and should get something out of it.

I get the impression if OP's "friend" offered her even $50 before hand she might have declined and watched her for free. But seeing as OP's "friend" is a socially-clueless ****tard, she probably thought me might actually learn a life lesson by charging him money.

Some grandmas are gonna want to take care of the kid, but others aren't. This one aren't.

This could have also been done out of spite, like, the daughter sounds pretty irresponsible so it wouldn't surprise me if she had a hand in this. Or gma hates OP because he knocked up her underage daughter(?).

My kids grandmas love to watch them, but it doesn't mean it's not a huge favor for them and doing something like buying them dinner is the least we could do for them for hooking us up.

Take the family element away. I would not watch a ten month old for a weekend for less than a thousand.

There's you're occasional crackhead degen but for the most part grandmothers do actually enjoy getting to spend time with their grandchildren. And that includes cases where they despise the son/daughter-in-law.

There's a lot of factors here that we are unaware of. If the only time OP's friend lets the GMA see the kid is when he is doing something I can easily see the GMA being jaded about things and wanting money. That is most likely the case here.
