Re: Giant Sandwich

I totally wish I was eating that right now. I really wish I knew if I could eat that in 24 hours.

How much would that cost if made in a typical deli? Like $80?

Going off the ~15 lbs. quote and looking at some of the meats, I'm guessing it would be closer to $200-250. Throwing in things like jamon Iberico just seems silly, like you're possibly going to notice it in this monstrosity.

Re: Giant Sandwich

I just put the recipe in to Fitday. It's around 14,000 calories

50% fat, 20% carbs, 30% protein

This is slightly fattier than a double quarter pounder with cheese, which weighs in at 750 calories.

imo if you can eat 19 of the best double quarter pounders with cheese you can eat this.

No. Bet your net worth on this one.

Edit: If he's a true murrican maybe. I am just thinking of an average fellow here.

That's what I was thinking.

Wild boar? Jamon Iberico? GTFO and just pile on layers of cold cuts IMO.

gump,

Looks like ~11lbs of meat, ~2.5lbs veggies, and a big loaf of bread.

Re: Giant Sandwich

It would take a while to just to make that thing. $250+ easy.

Re: Giant Sandwich

Also, as pictured, it sure looks to me like there are a couple of layers of cheese in there (e.g. right below the red onions, a couple layers above the pickles.) I don't see any mention of them in the recipe, although it's possible that my eyes glazed over around saucisson sec #2.

Depends on your friend. Is he Joey Chestnut, or some guy who's never done competitive eating in his life?

15lbs? Not a chance unless he's a pro eater.

Isn't 14,000 calories just a typical day for Michael Phelps?

I think pound after pound of those cold-cuts over and over again are going to get pretty nauseating after meal #2 or 3. I mean you're going to be smelling cold cuts in your **** after 6 hours. Would bet you wild boar bacon snobs would be willing to go down on a cop for a change in texture after 12 hours.

OP, how much for the bet? If it's below a grand it would be totally worth it just to watch the disgusted look on your friend's face. No big lead time though, I think he could angle-shoot this pretty easily with a big increase in diet and excercise.

Re: Giant Sandwich

A sandwich that size has no structural integrity. You'd have to use a knife and fork for sure.

Re: Giant Sandwich

I clearly underestimated the weight of this thing. I was thinking 5-7 pounds which is a lot, but not impossible given its in a bet.
