Only seen him live one time but I agree - sadly.

But he's a hell of a storyteller on podcasts and most of them are a good combination of serious and funny.

Anyone going to bill Burr at Mirage LV June 26/27? I'm debating heading down for a few WSOP events and if I do, I'm definitely going to try and hit one of those shows.

So Bill Burr at the mirage was sold out last night. I go over to the mirage anyway to try and buy a ticket off someone or maybe there's a scalper, etc. There's nothing, no one is selling. I go to the ticket desk to see if somehow I can get a ghost seat in there. She says everything is sold out, even all ghost seats. As I'm leaving her phone rings and she goes 'Wow! you're in luck 3 just opened up from a cancellation', I obviously buy a ticket for general admission price. Turns out the seat is 3rd row, dead centre. Was absolutely amazing.
He crushed SO hard, played a 2 hours set and it was all new/off the cuff stuff. He had the theatre just screaming. Absolutely amazing to see him live like that. I know RBK will be jealous of that story. Bill Burr is a ***** legend.

haha awesome!
I'm actually in Vegas but was still in the 10K plo and have seen him live 3 times in past few months so pretty familiar with his act at this point.

I was telling everyone I could to go see him.
his new hour is gonna be great but I'll prolly wait to see him again until he puts out this hour and starts on new material.

Lucky Burr experience, he's definitely a must see every time he comes around since he has so much new stuff and can just riff too.

Heres some great Gary Gulman

Tig Notaro documentary coming out soon. Shes plausibly funniest female comedian so it'll probably be good.

I'm headed to NYC Wednesday for a couple days and wanted to hit the comedy cellar, but I waited too long as the shows are sold out for the days I'm there. However, the show they put on at The Village Underground was available, so I made reservations for that. I'm curious how does this compare to the actual cellar? Are they pretty similar?

Oddly enough, Gary Gulman mentioned 2 posts above is on the billing for the show. Should be good even if it's not at the cellar.

They book the same comics at both places so it will be the same quality of show that you'd see at the Cellar. The only difference would be the feel of the room, but I haven't been to the Underground so I don't know how it differs.

I haven't been to the cellar in a while but the underground was a similar feel from what I remember. I think big names are more likely to drop in to the cellar but both are great spots. Don't sleep on Brooklyn venues either, Hannibal burress just did a guest host spot at the knitting factory the other night and Wyatt cenac has a weekly show at littlefield

Hannibal hosted a show basically every Sunday at the Knitting Factory for probably 3-4 years. It was free for at least two of those years too, but then once he got a bigger name they started charging $5-$20 depending on who else appeared. I agree Brooklyn would also be a place to look. I have heard of so many 'New York' based comics I never see at the Cellar or other major venues in Manhattan, yet I also know they perform near nightly for a living. Most of these are alternative comics that likely play at venues in BK

Oh yeah he hosted a show there for years, but hasn't in the last year or so, at least since broad city took off. Just mention it since he's coming up next week and it's worth looking at

If you want a good local comics spot, you can go to the creek and the cave in Long Island city too, there are always at least 2 shows going on there per night

Oddball comedy festival is back this year with an AMAZING line up including Aziz, Amy Schumer, Dave Attell, and Jeselnik.

Yeah, that is a sick, sick lineup.

Anyone going to bother with Chris Tucker's Netflix special? I think it goes live this week. I need to wait for some reviews before I consider it!!

Ended up getting a free 30 day hulu sub W/ Showtime. The Brad Williams special "Fun Size" is one of the funniest specials I have seen in years. Had to watch it twice to hear the jokes I missed the 1st time.
