Interesting business idea - Other Topics Forum - Discuss Pop Culture, Arts and Entertainment

I live in new york city. I was thinking of getting a loft space somewhere in a crowded area and filling it with junk: china plates, tvs, old printers, electronics, etc... and for the duration of a client's favorite metal song, they get to destroy things with bats/chainsaws/fists/etc for like $20 ala office space zombieland, and Hostel (but instead of people, your torturing stuff).

Maybe the rest of the world isnt on perpetual tilt like me, but there are some angry people out there and yoga just isnt cutting it. oot, is this a worthy business endeavor?

Turn your idea into a real "Hostel" and you will do better. You can probably charge more than $20 a go as well.

I am bored today so here mare some potential problems off the top of my head.

downside

4 mins is a long time with a bat, need LOTS of china plates etc
all this stuff has to be carried in and old stuff cleaned up. set up for next "customer"
rent for a loft in nyc in crowded area is not cheap.
health and safety issues ?
insurance, public liability?
security, customer flips out mid expression session. ( hey that would be a good name "Expression Sessions")

upside

could be enough weirdos in nyc to make service viable but would need to be more than 20 bucks!

When I'm mad enough to break something, I do it. If I took enough time to go someplace else and give somebody money, I probably wouldn't be mad enough anymore.

So beyond all the other logistics, you're likely dealing with somebody harboring the kind of rage where they'd just throw you in the room and beat the **** out of you as well.

Have you considered just selling pizza?

It's a horrible business idea w/r/t the economics of it all - but as a service that just exists somewhere, at that price point - gold! I'm so unclear on why you are all discouraging him from setting up shop.

(Note: I would never use it because I never really feel like breaking stuff and am a generally repressed Azn type, but I can see alot of people getting something out of this service!)
