Did a quick search and didn't find a thread about this yet.

I've always enjoyed 'collecting' quotes from books or poetry that struck me and particularly interesting or powerful. Do you guys have any?

Here are a few of my favorites.

"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing......Only I will remain."
-Litany Against Fear, Dune, Frank Herbert

"to the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee."
-Moby Dick, Herman Melville

"So it goes"
-Slaughterhouse-Five, Kurt Vonnegut

"Not all those who wander are lost"
-from a larger poem in The Fellowship of the Ring, JRR Tolkien

"Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful."
-Frankenstein, Mary Shelley

The classics never go out of style.

Quote:
Someday you will make such a fold, it will be a good one and you will be happy. You will be able to afford a shrimp cocktail at Binions with the saved bet and maybe even treat a friend.

Feeling like a champ, you will do it again someday. But, this time a guy with Q2s will drag your pot, buy the cocktail waitress a fur coat and **** her blue for a week. Now which guy do you want to be? The smart one with the shrimp cocktail or the stupid one with the sore dick?

"If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets."

Always stuck with me. Never actually read the book, but saw it in Dom's "I'm so totally getting a tattoo" thread that one time.

All of us want to live and that is absolutely natural. However, we should learn from childhood on to choose our best way to die. If we don’t do that, we end up spending our days like a dog, only in search of harbor, food, and expressing a blind loyalty to his owner in return. That isn’t enough to make our lives have a meaning. -- Yamamoto Tsunetomo
