To be fair if an animal committed those crimes I wouldn't feel bad about it suffering either. How you think that I have a problem with people testing stuff on animals from what I posted kind of shows me who has the simple mind around here though.

people go through all sorts of things waking up from general anesthesia including snorting, gasping, crying, etc, that they're not consciously experiencing. he was more than likely not conscious through any of it and just going through physical reflexes trying to keep him alive. not to say that this sort of thing is acceptable but it's doubtful he consciously suffered like people think.

People commit suicide by running their car engine in a closed garage. It seems to work pretty well.

The best argument imo against capital punishment is that innocent people will be killed. At least a couple dozen people on death row in the U.S. have been exonerated.

Rather than having people on death row for months/years before being injected with a seemingly arbitrary cocktail of drugs in the hope that they'll just fall asleep and die quietly, why not have special "Execution Nights" each week? Maybe have some sort of maze / combat zone for the convicts to run around while special agents armed with machine guns attempt to hunt them down and shoot them. You could televise it, and make it more interesting by inviting the public to vote for the agent they think will make the most kill shots. Bookies could even run odds on which bad guy survives longest.

the death penalty disgusts me regardless of how it's applied, but this is an absolute disgrace. then again, the US gets away with torture in Guantanamo and nobody does **** about it so I won't hold out hope for the international community trying to sort this out

Because we, as a society, like to think that we're actually better than your average murderer. In that regard, it's better to actually... not kill people if you wan't to be able to draw this line between you and them. You don't willingly kill, period. Morally it's a slippery slope to start arguing when it's right or wrong to kill someone.

Using an extremely small % of your tax money to keep murderers in jail is the price to pay to be able to claim our society civilized. I can live with that.
