Cancer update for those who are interested.:

Finished my treatments. They extended the radiation because I was responding well to it, so I'm very burnt up inside. BUT my latest scans show the lung tumor is shrunk by ~70% and they can find no cancer cell activity in either the tumor or the lymph nodes.

I may have beaten it. I go for more scans in about a month, but it's looking unreasonably hopeful.
That's great to hear. Good luck with it.

So my gf bought me a DNA 30 for our anniversary, thing looks pretty cool, but I already have an SVD. Keep it or exchange it for something else?
Keep the DNA 30! Now that you're into rebuildables the DNA 30 works fantastic with those. Plus you can sub ohm with the 30 (I think you can't go lower than .5 ohms though) whereas you can't with the SVD. What mod is the DNA 30 in?

Way to go mick!! That is awesome!

I'm looking for my first rda. Didnt know how long it'd be for Russians and I'd like to start since this Bombies juice I got is amazing.

Looking for a fairly cheap easy rda that will work on my MVP until I get the mechanical mod. I wont be doing anything crazy. So far my favorite seems to be high resistance (2.5 ohm) on about 4.7volts

Just ordered a kayfun instead and will wait for dripper from lolrussians. Will be using on my kayfun, should i get 28 or 30 gauge kanthal

If you're planning on using it to rebuild smaller heads as well (evod or similar) go with 30, otherwise I'd go with 28.

FWIW 28 is what I use on my genny, and use 32 for my wife's evods.

28 is too thick for the small heads unless you will sub ohm. 30 works well for me on kanger.

fingers crossed for you sir, glgl

OK so I have a problem with my Itaste MVP, which I've been using with Iclear30s for a few weeks now with no problems. Suddenly the green light is going on and staying on when I fire it, but no vapour is being delivered. I've tried changing the atomiser head, and even using a new cartomiser, but nothing. A cursory google suggests I'm not alone with this problem, but there are multiple suggestions and it's unclear what the actual solution (if any) is. Anyone know?

Just bought a kayfun clone. The guy at the shop wrapped it with 28g kenthal + cotton. I have to say: Wow. Just wow. Never going back to prefabs again.

If you are considering a Nautilus, do yourself a favor and go for a rba instead.

What kinda clone?

I just ordered a ehpro kayfun lite v2.

So excited. I can't wait. What ohm coil and what you using it on?

I have the ephro. It's a nice device for certain. The only issue I have so far is a tad bit of leaking, but the flavor is just incredible. It also uses a ton of juice. Just a nice, solid piece. Best feeling tip I've tried yet.

I was thinking about getting the real-deal, but that price was a bit much, plus no airflow control. Yuck.

I have the exact same model and it is great. Very well made and vapes beautifully. You won't be disappointed. I have a few Fasttech clones and the ehpro is considerably more well made

I just got a Nautilus in the mail today.

Guess I'm gonna have to upgrade!

The ehpro didn't sit exact on my SVD. Now the threads on the SVD are stripped. I tested the ehpro on other devices, so I guess I have to buy a new mod now. Not a big deal; I think the SVD was going to take a dive soon anyways. I was hoping this one would last long enough to get the coming-soon Provari.

If I go to the local shop, they'd probably encourage me to buy a Nemesis clone for about $40. I'm not sure if I'm ready to go into pure mech mods. This one is spring-activated with a floating pin and room for a 18650 and a kick. I currently use Efest LiMN protected 18650, 20A batteries. I'm not interested in going sub-Ohm.

The other option is pick up another VV/VW device, but all of the ones in my price range sort of suck. The best I know of is the VTR, but that thing is a little too large for my tastes.

I need to get one tomorrow, so I don't have many choices here.

The Nautilus isn't bad really. For VG vaping, there is no non-rebuildable out there that works any good IME so far.

The issue with me is that I bought it with the intention of rebuilding the coils. Their coils can't go past 10W and at $15/pack, they are pretty darn expensive.

When I first starting using the Nautilus, the coils were really bad, lasting about 3 days, which was more incentive to rebuild. The last pack I bought lasted about 5 weeks, which was good enough to not bother rebuilding. These new ones are much cleaner to vape on as well.

Long-term, the RBA will save me a metric ton of money on coils, so I didn't mind dropping the extra $5 or $10 at the shop on it. Plus it was nice to get a live demo on building it.

The only thing that made me hesitate about taking the next step was having to learn to build my own coils/wicks. Now that I did, I haven't used a factory made coil in many months. It's pretty amazing how much better a decently made coil works than the factory made garbage. Jump in!
Edit: plus, once you've made a good coil you can just dry burn (there's YouTube videos on how to do this) every week or so and replace your wick and you're basically vaping a brand new atomizer. No need to make a new coil/wick when you start to get a gummy/burnt taste.

Ok, I ordered one!

I got this Nautilus assuming I was probably going to break it and have to buy a metal tank, as well as replacement coils.

I figured I might as well just get the RBA, it just seems like less of a hassle. I already have cotton and wire so I should be good to go.

if you plan on keeping the gf.... the answer should be obvious

I'm building with 28g, 8 wraps. That is reading at 1.5 Ohm, which is a perfect area for me.

You'll definitely be happy with with the Kayfun clone. The flavor, throat hit, and vapor production sinks everything else. If anything, it makes me wonder if the Russian / Real Kayfun is 2x or 3x better, but that price.

I'm not 100%, but pretty sure this is "doing it wrong" - the SVD, Vamo and the like want unprotected cells, since they have protection circuitry built in already. This could well explain the frequent shutting off power issues you reported?

edit: as far as I understand it, unprotected for most regulated devices, protected (or add fuse (/kick?)) for mech mods.

edit2: link your batteries? if it's this: http://www.efestpower.com/Product/1908425029.html they're unprotected

Yep, those are it. They are unprotected after all. I originally thought they were unprotected, but alas, sometimes I get confused.

I was having a lot of issues when I was using the Panasonic 18650Bs, which I think are unprotected as well. The Efests practically turned SVD into a functional working, hard-hitting device. Even the button issues mostly went away, although there were still quite a few shut-offs. I'm sort of a chain-vaper when I actually get to vape, but that's another topic.

Anyways, the SVD is dead now.

Haha yes for some reason it is a little addictive I usually am chain vaping, especially if working on some tricky problem, or grinding some mundane task.

FWIW, they had some Hanna clones for about $80 there as well. Not sure if I want to go the box mod route though.

Basically, the decision goes down to this:

Nemesis Clone (Sort of like having VV/VW and a bit scared of using a true mech)
VTR (too damn bulky)
Hanna Clone w/ DNA 30 (why the **** would I use so much wattage?)

That's what I remember from the visit to the vape shop yesterday. I think the Nemesis is the cheapest at around $40. The VTR and Hanna Clone are about the same, I think.
