Everywhere. Literally everywhere I step outside is dirtier than inside my house. There are no leaves blowing around, grass clippings, bugs, trash, or oil inside my home.

If your carpet isn't any cleaner than your driveway you might want to hire Stanley Steamer.

As a kid I always wore shoes around the house, a habit I've continued for 50-some years. I am used to being able to walk around and bump into things with my feet without stubbing my toes or worrying if I step on something.

If I now start removing my shoes I'm going to be ****ed.

I can't hear "house slippers" and not imagine them being brought by a butler on a platter.

I don't make him use a platter. Hand-carried is fine.

I imagine that most people, as part of their routine upon arriving back home, either kick off their shoes in the mud room/foyer as a practice or don't.

Seems weird to me to imagine someone coming home and spinning the wheel to randomly decide whether to leave their shoes at the door or keep them on and end up leaving them in their bedroom, etc. Sounds like a leak.

What to do with my shoes is far from the top of my mind when I come home. It's like asking me what do I do with my belt.

GnT: Are you blind?

Did: Right, it's automatic. Step inside the door, take shoes off and put them with all the other shoes.

Lounging around the house with shoes on and always losing your belt is no way to go through life.

- Taking shoes off is about being home and comfortable, if i'm running back in for something or w/e I don't usually take off shoes
- Guests usually notice the pile of shoes and take theirs off, if they ask if they should I say yes, if they don't notice / don't do it I'm mildly irritated but don't say anything because I would prefer guests feel welcome/comfortable than that they not wear shoes
- When I'm a guest I ascertain what they do (are they wearing shoes when they answer the door, is there a big pile of shoes by the door) and do whatever they do

I never wear my shoes in the house, take them off when I walk in.

Crocs in the summer and tent mules in the winter.

Yeah I don't think anyone on the sane side of this debate is saying that they head out to their car, forget their sunglasses, and take off their shoes before going in and grabbing them.

Perhaps most people here don't have to wear pants to work (or have a job). I'm with Alobar in the sense that I'm changing almost immediately upon arrival, and wearing no shoes is a prerequisite to that.

Does anyone in the weirdo camp wear their shoes inside, go to their room to change, take their shoes off to ditch their work clothes, and then put the shoes right back on after?

also for indoor shoes people, do you wear your shoes when you put your feet up on your couch or a recliner?

Have you never seen a woman wear heels, flats, or sandals? Or do you just beat off to Eskimo open?

I wear pants to work and like to slip in some comfortable sneakers after putting on my chilling pants. Much more comfortable then sock on tiles imo.

I take them off before I walk on the carpet which is necessary before you can reach the couch. Rest of the house is tiled except for the upper floors and I dont usually wear shoes there.

If I'm in the kitchen cooking or if I'm cleaning I wear my shoes. If its really cold I'll probably have them on. If you come over keep your shoes on and keep your nasty foots covered up as much as possible. Is this some weird phobia about not wearing a shoe inside a house ?

Yes, most of the shoe-taker-offers in the thread so far have indicated they don't wear their shoes inside due to a phobia.

Hey thanks for coming over for dinner. That's a beautiful outfit your wife has, but she is going to take off her heels and clomp around our house barefoot for the next few hours.

No shoes for mainly comfort reasons. I would never think to ask guests to remove their shoes. If you stand at a urinal at any point in the day, your shoes are dirty.
