I thought about it the other day and realized that I don't really like my name because it's too common and ordinary.

I wish my parents would've given me a more unique (but not super weird obv), and/or at least a less common name. Obviously this can be both a good thing or bad thing but I think having a name that isn't very common is cool something you'll learn to like as you grow up.

When I say a common name I mean names like "David, John, Bob, Alex, Scott, Mike, Kevin, etc."

For example, I wish my name could've been something like "Brody" or "Teddy" or "Leo" or "Jay." Names that aren't super unique but are pretty rare at the same time (at least in my experience).

Thoughts?

Not in all cases. I've met quite a few people with those names and they are their actual names. Teddy is a pretty rare name. Leo is very rare too, sometimes it's short for Leonardo, sometime's it's just Leo. And Jay has a lot of variations but I just like "Jay"

my name is luke. my siblings are fabian and casimira.... wtf? wheres the creativity for the firstborn child??? apparently they were gonna call me raphael and chickened out haha

but many people call me by my surname anyway which is uncommon and most people cant pick the origin, so at least i have that :P. my 2nd name is also weird so i guess those make up for it, if my name was luke miller or something id probably wish my 1st name was a little more original

My name is uncommon, I guess I'm pretty much indifferent to it though. I don't really remember wishing much for a common name or anything like that, nor do I think my name is super awesome. A name like Lazer, that would be pretty super awesome.

I'm called Shane. I didn't like it growing up because I thought it was quite gay-sounding and stupid people often call me Shaun, but on the whole I'm glad I have something slightly different rather than Peter/John/Robert etc.

Also, my Dad wanted to call me Piers. Glad my Mom won.
