The different Color dots on the bottom of Redbull cans
 

Someone recently told me that there are different color dots on the bottom of red bull cans, and that each different color dot has a slightly altered taste of the original redbull formula. Maybe they put more of one ingredient and less of another. But I immediatly thought, that sounds like bull****, why wouldn't they just sell it in different flavors? But I checked it out for myself and sure enough, there are different color dots, and they DO taste different. For example -- The yellow one is significantly more tart and sour, the Dark blue one tastes different than the light blue one which tastes like it has more sugar, but the thing is, some of them don't have a dot at all...are these the "original formula"? I am really totally puzzled by this, I have drank two different "flavors" one after the other. The taste is definitly different. Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm going to take a guess, and it is just a guess. After a huge batch is made, it goes through a testing process to check sugar levels, acid levels, etc. Based on those tests, the batch gets a rating which is indicated by the different color dots. The ingredients used to make the product possibly aren't of a very consistent nature so a range of acceptable test results are allowed.

I'm not searching that hard but nothing is really coming up on google about this. Kind of weird and makes me skeptical. Are you sure its not just placebo?

You should do a double-blind test or something.

If the dots are different colors, it usually indicates all the different colors used in the printing of that can.

im 100% sure. The different dots always taste different from eachother, and on top of it, those dots always have the same unique taste. I think the first guy who responded has the most accurate guess. That sounds logical. AShinyNickel -- I didn't believe it either the first time I heard it. Buy one with a yellow dot on the bottom, and then buy one with a Dark blue, or Regular blue dot on the bottom, and taste for yourself. You'll see what I mean.

Do a blind taste test, I am nearly 100% sure you won't be able to distinguish the "different" flavors of Red Bull.

Well, it probably shows that the different Redbulls have slightly different tastes. This clearly demonstrates that Redbull is down to earth.

I blame Red Bull for the "energy product" craze that has seemed to take this country over. The other day my gf brought home shaving cream for me and it was "energy enhanced." Wtf, it's shaving cream. I used to see those 5 hour energy things, now I see 6, or 7 hours. Pepsi "max with ginseng" etc. I'm so happy I am motivated enough to do daily tasks without having to drink inspiration in a canned form just to get **** done.

I'm looking at 4 cans of Red Bull right now and none of them have dots on the bottom.

Have you guys seen the ads for the 6 hour energy shot? It looks like the exact same thing as the 5 hour energy shot, which has been around longer and is made by a different company.
