Death Pool Candidates

I'm in a death pool for the first time and have to pick 30. You get 100-their age for pts. I'm looking for suggestions. Here's my initial list that I just came up with off the top of my head;

1. Mark Mangino
2. Jimmy Carter
3. OJ Simpson
4. Fidel Castro
5. Amy Winehouse
6. Michael J. Fox
7. Nicole Richie
8. Muhammad Ali
9. Gary Busey
10. Larry Craig
11. Mike Tyson
12. George Steinbrenner
13. Bob Dylan
14. Billy Joel
15. Charlton Heston
16. Horatio Sanz
17. Mahmoud Abbas
18. Chris Moneymaker
19. Doyle Brunson
20. Daniel Baldwin
21. Liza Minnelli

I'm trying to stay away from really obvious people like Ariel Sharon, Lohan, any of the Bushes, etc. Any suggestions or tips?

Re: Death Pool Candidates

Stack it with old people, a 70 yr old is much more than twice as likley to die than a 40 yr old.

Hmm, what are the rules about being ill? Could you not just pick lots of terminally ill children?

Re: Death Pool Candidates

they have to be famous. no real rules to determine if they are famous, but it's up to the commissioner to make the final say.

Dick Clark will never die. Don't ever put him in your dead pool because HE WILL NEVER ****ING DIE!!!

OP, I don't get why you're "staying away" from Lohan. That's a great pick. So is Britney Spears. I think they're both more likely than Richie from what little I see (mostly reading the Superficial and tabloid headlines at grocery stores). Winehouse is a solid choice though. If the drugs don't get her ink poisoining from all her tattoos will.

Also, isn't Fidel Castro like 105? So if the scoring goes 100 - age then you're actually docked five points if he kicks it, right?

maybe I will have to reconsider. For some reason I just don't see either of those 2 dying. Is Richie the one that just married the guy from Good Charlotte or is that someone else? I'm not very up to dat on celebrity gossip.

Artie Lange, according to playboy, is supposed to be the next in line for the Belushi curse. Good candidate, IMO.

If I thought Barack Obama had a chance of becoming president, I might think about taking him. Crazy white people FTW.

Re: Death Pool Candidates

I'm sure there's plenty of online resources for picking good Dead Pool candidates, so you shouldn't have any trouble there. I've heard of some big money ones too. As for your picks, I'm curious about the reason(s) for picking the following:

Sanz (is he a huge degen?)
Moneymaker
Billy Joel

Sanz is a fat SNL guy. Those guys die. More research is needed.
Moneymaker just seems like a boozehound who's headed for bustoville. I could be wrong.
Joel is always on/off the wagon and has had some bigtime weight fluctuations. He also battles depression. He's just unstable. I look at those types as having numerous ways they could die - disease, car crash, OD, suicide.

Hmmm, Billy Joel. I guess I remember him being fat and looking worn down recently. Makes sense.

I don't know, but you've probably just been added to some FBI watch list.

EDIT: me too for responding.

Possibly John Madden? He looks like he's in rough shape from what I've seen from him on SNF.

I think Pat Summerall may be a better choice.

Sharon Osbourne is on my list due to her cancer. Robin Williams has had alcoholism issues. Elizabeth Taylor is sick and old. Arlen Specter is old and has cancer. Scott Hamilton (ice skater with the melon head). Pamela Anderson has hepititis C.
