I loved TDK, hated BB. Inception, I honestly didn't really get, but not enough to where I disliked it. It's one I'm going to rewatch another time and pay more attention. I love The Prestige too.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I agree with Phresh that I didn't really like Batman Begins. The action was very very badly shot and the central theme was not as strong as the TDK central theme. Katy Holmes was also miscast and annoyed me for most of the movie.

The "I won't kill you but I don't have to save you" line and Batman's subsequent action seems to break a central tenet of the Batman mythos for me as well. At the very least, its an awkward workaround.

...everybody is now hoping that the line we got from him was just early footage, or a temporary sound mix, or something that isn’t at all indicative of what it’s really going to be like trying to understand the main villain for the entirety of the film. Unfortunately for those with hopes, THR claims to have sources saying that this is definitely what Bane is going to sound like through the whole movie, and that Christopher Nolan doesn’t have many plans to do anything about it.

The first source they cite, who is just said to be “working on the film,” says that he is “scared to death” about “the Bane problem.” This could either be taken as evidence that Bane’s dialogue will be an issue, or evidence that somebody working as an extra wanted a little bit of spotlight from the trades and struck while an online controversy was hot to deliver a quote, I’ll let you decide. But further comments in the article seem like a strong indication that regardless of whether the Bane problem is legitimate or overblown, Nolan doesn’t plan on doing much to fix it.

Apparently he already told THR reporters at a press event that it was okay if people don’t understand everything Bane is saying, which gets supported by comments from another source, claimed to be a “high-level exec,” who said, “Chris wants the audience to catch up and participate rather than push everything at them. He doesn’t dumb things down. You’ve got to pedal faster to keep up.”

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

There was a huge backlash against Batman Begins after it came out. At first people were really excited that it wasn't Batman Forever: Redux, but then the flaws of the movie started to show.

I personally have a hard time getting around Batman causing a whole lot of death and destruction, which was a big part of BB.

TDK is a 9.9/10, BB is a 7/10 imo.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

It's pretty close but I think I might have like Batman Begins a little better as a movie, TDK was good I just thought it was more Ledger.

Agree than Katie Holmes was a casting mistake and Aaron Eckhart too. Not complaining though as casting overall was pretty awesome considering Caine, Oldman, Ledger, Freeman, Neeson etc who all did a great job.

I think the movie's going to be fine if you liked the other two. Bane does seem a little hard to understand and I don't know about Catwoman ever being an interesting character (though Hathaway seems okay I guess), but I didn't see anything to make me think it's going to suck.

And I guess I'm in the minority but I did like the kickoff return shot, and also like that these Batman films have basically had the Joker and a bunch of villains I don't know anything about. I don't read the comics and only vaguely knew Scarecrow, didn't know Ras Al whatever and don't know Bane either. Unless Nolan suddenly turns into M Night or Michael Bay I'm sure everything will work.

For some reason I thought Bane's voice was a lot easier to make out in the leaked copies of the prologue than in the IMAX theater.

Batman Begins was a complete redemption of the Batman film franchise.

Don't be hating on it fools.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Aaron Eckhart is awesome, he almost single-handedly saved Battle: Los Angeles

Put me in the camp also that thought BB was better then TDK (Ledger was obviously the best part of both movies though)

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I thought BB was great, but TDK blew it out of the water. Can't understand how people who like the Batman franchise or superhero movies in general could dislike either of them though tbh.

A lot of people get off on being contrarians.

See more movies. TDK is like an 8, Inception is a 7. It's perfectly reasonable for people to dislike them. Nolan is a competent director who is likely to continue to make entertaining films; he's not some sublime Jesus incarnate.
