Dane Cook The Comic Great? or Horrible?

I was reading this review of his comedy and I pretty much agree it's accurate. Here's the first paragraph of it.

'Dane Cook is awful. He's worse than not funny, he's anti-funny. If I had to picture the personality that would typify every stereotype of a yuppie in California combined with a yuppie in Soho it would be Cook. His
whole act appears to be an attempt to set up a joke that never happens. If you had to ask me what the best joke of his act was I couldn't even tell you. It all seemed to revolve around the social behaviors of superficial people and how they react to each others superficiality. It's like he's giving a lesson on how to be the perfect douchbag and his audience is taking a seminar with him to learn from the master.'

How about neither? Dane Cook is an above average comedian that is ridiculously overrated with respect to his popularity and talent. /Thread.

Dane Cook is The Beatles of stand up comedy. He's taking comedy to a new level the way John, Paul and George were innovators in rock and roll.

He's not funny enough to defend. And yet he's too easy a target because he's so not funny.

You've hit some kind of sweet spot complement with this thread.

He legitimately revolutionized the business of comedy, being the first to conquer social media. His comedy is decent, just not for me.

90% hack that steals other people's jokes

10% decent comedy

He has OK skills on delivering a joke(even if it's stolen from someone else) and some of his own stuff isn't that bad. That's about it.

Highly over rated.

I saw a movie he was in and didn't like the character he was playing. Which was essentially himself, so I don't like him.

true story.

Yea he is a marketing genius. Somehow convinced a whole segment of 20 somethings that he is a great comic.
He is to comedy what Kenny G is to the saxophone.
