She sounds like a keeper.

I must be a freak. I don't notice any difference between any mayonnaise brands. But I do notice that Miracle Whip sucks. And I notice tuna differences. Canned tuna quality has gone down significantly in recent years. Bumble Bee Prime Fillet is about the only one I can eat anymore. Its pricey, but not bad if you wait for it to go on special and then stock up.

To be fair, if I am getting the really high end tuna like the Italian or Spanish tuna belly in olive oil, I don't even need mayo. Some oil from the can/bottle, a squeeze of lemon, and a touch of Dijon.

Best canned tuna is Kirkland from Costco.

That's Starkist, Chicken of the Sea, and Costco, from left to right.

I like starkist since its in vegetable oil. The other ones are too dry. Off course I try and squeeze out the oil ini the starkist as much as possible before drenching it in Hellmans. Just to reiterate I bought 2 30 ounce bottles. One had expi date of more then 1 year . I tasted the other bottle which had expi date of 2015 and it tasted fine. No discernible taste difference.

Will never buy starkist again. Whenever I get one like that I just chuck it.

Wish I Costco'd.

Gobbo have you tried making kewpie? Isn't it just regular mayo with more sugar and MSG added?

Is there sugar in it? To be honest I haven't looked. I just know it's delicious.

People still buy tuna in the cans? The ones in the pouch is 100x better.

Was the mayo every week remark an exaggeration? I'm trying to get my head around this. 30oz is like 840 grams - you eat that in a week? That's ****ing sick man!

6000 calories a week in mayonnaise alone...

To the tuna aficionados: Try Pastene. If you don't have a high end shop nearby it can be bought at their website. It's a dark pink/light red color and I nearly threw it out the first time I opened a can bec I was used to the bleached white Bumblebee.

thats high end? Looks like something one might find in a Spanish deli covered in 2" of dust and expired 8 months ago.

Kinda curious to try it now.

I can understand being upset by this despite being a Miracle-Whip-for-tuna guy.

I was similarly upset when Doritos changed a decade ago.

I think the thread title needs to be changed

Its a little unfair to let the world (those who only see the title and/or dont finish the thread to its conclusion) think Hellmans have changed their award winning recipe for the worse, when it was ops lack of best before date checking skill which was the issue here

I think the thread should be changed , I jumped, leaped to a conclusion I thought had to be the only possibility. Pretty irresponsible , incompetent to sell a product well over a year expired imo.

Defo an exaggeration based on someone trolling my consumption rate. I have sandwiches and tuna maybe 3 or 4 times a week where I faithfully use Hellmans. I never realized Doritioes changed their recipe. I never noticed a difference in cool ranch or original doritoe taste. What was the reason for changing doritoe recipe health or financial concerns?

Delete this thread before we tarnish the name he of the greatest Mayo ever any further.

I can't believe I read this whole thread.

I am, however, relieved to find that all is well in the mayoverse.
