I am quickly approaching the same boat, but I think the only thing I watch live anymore is sports, and even then I'll often pause for the first 30-45 minutes to make sure i can fastforward through commercials.
This reminds me: a couple of weeks ago I DVR'd something that got pre-empted. It was on CBS so I went to their website. I was dismayed to find that in their episode streaming, the little ticks on the progress bar no longer represent one commercial, but
five of the damn things. Five! Now, to Dominic's point above, I have started immediately muting the commercials and firing up a game of hearts or some such to pass the two minutes. But to add insult to injury, every time the 3rd of 4th commercial actually loaded a separate kind of page-within-a-page, and it un-muted itself!
So yes... very tilting.
(BTW, can someone explain to me why CBS will let me watch full episodes of TV shows on my laptop or desktop, but not my iPad? They are dead-set against me relaxing comfortably in bed while watching their show over the internet?)
