I'm trying all that as well. I've been to a doctor and there's some kind of bone density loss that's causing a pinching effect on the disks. Or something, I need to call back and get the exact diagnosis.

I'm just trying different things to see what alleviates the problem. I'm not in pain most of the time. I just can't work out as much as I want (at least not in my high-volume circuit class that I really like), or stand in one place for very long.

Buying used shoes should not be anywhere near a thread about luxury, even "cheap luxury."

Buying used shoes is pretty gross and should be avoided, unless you are truly unable to afford new ones.

Highly recommend you pull the trigger on these, my Dell one is pretty cheap on eBay. I keep one in my bedroom, living room, girlfriend's apartment and office. It really makes a huge difference.

some of your points are valid, the older over ear model have a hard case that is definitely bulky. however this year they made the QC25s more foldable so the case is now smaller.

if you only ever used these on flights they'd still be a worthwhile purchase imo and i don't see how you'd break them. but this isn't really something where you browse around different lines of products, for pure noise cancelling ability it's bose and then everything else. try the 25s in a store.

i should. it's partly the price, and partly my fear of and experience with unbranded chargers that get hotter than the sun. i'm trying to use my laptop less so having just one charger at my standing desk is supposed to deter me from using it on the couch. for the multiple locations in your example, it seems perfect.

Are there small in-ear noise canceling headphones that work as well as the over-ear ones?

Don't get the chillow get the gel o cool. Worth its weight in gold for hot sleepers. Never flip your pillow again. Pro tip: put it in the fridge in the summer and it will cool you down like crazy. And nothing to fill up or do to it. Not much of a winter item so bad timing, but this is one of the best things I have purchased in the last 5 years in terms of amount of use for the price.

Speaking of sleeping, high quality sheets & pillowcases are definitely worth spending a little more money for the comfort luxury they provide. You spend a third of your life sleeping, and how well you sleep affects you when you aren't sleeping, so it should be a no brainer that it's worth it to splurge a little here on the good stuff. No need to get the 1000 thread count stuff, anything in the 400 range will do. Just pick a good high end brand and enjoy counting sheep.

Get what I linked but place your feet on it. Nevr heard of someone just getting hot feet.

Suz you may not use it much if ever in the winter, but the warmer months you will wonder how you ever lived without it. I would grab my ps4 that and then my wife in the case of a fire. Ok, probably getting my Batman comic collection before the wife.

Valet parking at hotels when you're paying for parking anyway. A lot of places don't even charge for it but if they do it's not much extra to get out at the front door and back in at the front door. It feels so fancy and is 100% worth it not to be dragging your stuff through the parking garage.

I love this alarm clock which wakes you up by light. Supposed to help you wake up more refreshed but I honestly have no idea if it does or not. Price is insane right now I swear I got mine two years ago for 80. Yes, it has sound as well in case the light doesn't wake you up. Also works perfect as a night lamp with 20 different brightness setttings. I would shop around though, 200 is pretty high for a glorified alarm clock.

bose qc20i, they have 3 sets of earbuds so it will take some fiddling to get the right seal. just go to a store and try both pairs out.

agree on the incredible importance of sleep, but sheets and pillowcases aren't nearly as important as temperature/darkness/noise/pillow/mattress etc.

some stuff i picked up this year:

- tempur symphony pillow
- tempur sleep mask
- lectrofan white noise machine

the pillow is one of my best purchases in recent years.

if anyone wakes up in hot sweats every night to a point where it ruins their life, then the chilipad/chilibed could be worth looking at: http://www.chilitechnology.com.au/faq/

Well I figure if any of these things give me half the enjoyment some of you describe, it will be well worth it and worth a few misfires. Also I can report back to the thread when they come.

These are excellent sandals (flip flops). They last for years and are very comfortable.

I buy my contact lens cases. It's a silly $5~ thing but I like them so much better than the free ones that serve exactly the same purpose and no one ever sees but me.

+1 for the noise cancelling headphones. You will never want to fly without them again. I use it with my PC as well, works great for immersion when watching series or playing games.

I am going to look into those tempur pillows. I have had several different types and styles and always hated all of them. Maybe I will like these.

I'm a stomach/side sleeper, never liked any of the tempur ones I tried several years ago, and they let me return and exchange quite a few to see if I could find one I liked.

Eventually found a faux-down pillow at target for a decent price that was incredibly comfortable.

Or maybe it's half down half synthetic. I dunno.
