Meant to add earlier but jmakin's sad saga reminded me: soft-close toilet seats. A seat broke and I replaced it ~3 months ago and just randomly chose a soft-close seat. It's awesome, just start the seat down and walk away. I genuinely appreciate not having to lower the seat all the way to the base.

Next step will be to try the bidet.

**** it, just ordered the bidet. Chose no-rush shipping, will arrive the day before Cinco de Mayo for perfect timing.

Anybody make a case for a more luxurious/expensive bidet? I do not need heated seat.

I have an ~$80 warm/cold one that I think is worth the little extra from the 30-40 cold only ones. On the coldest setting it's really not too enjoyable.

Does it heat the water or do you need to plumb hot?

You need access to the hot water hook up on the sink. I feed mine by drilling a small hole in the vanity so it still looks nice.

Warm water is nice. Dual jet and pressure selection is also. As is drying and self cleaning wand.

I havent used an inexpensive one though so its hard to say how much more I like the extra features.

Mine heats the water and you can select temperature but the hot water will run out after 15 secs.

Repost of my remote. Temperature selection and user specific programming is on the back.

If you bought these online - can you post a link?

I used to use foil in the window for that. Now I just use a sleep mask, which works great. A thickly padded one with stretchy velcro connectors in the back. Most of them I find are pretty terrible, the thin ones.

Closest I can find online is something like this http://amzn.to/2oPxvWi

The one I have I got from Brookstone, but changed up to some thin piece of trash the next time I went to grab a second one: http://www.brookstone.com/pd/nap-plu...k/644542p.html

I got the Walmart Mainstays brand of blackout curtains. They were cheap, actually look good and work great.

I just moved to a 2 year rental and didn't want to spend a lot on curtains and rods for 8 windows.

Wal-Mart is the cheapest.
Target is second, but the quality jump in material makes for a slightly nicer hanging curtain, so I bought those.

If you need rods too, Amazon won. I bought a plain double rod for like $5 each, and put a sheer behind. Best of both worlds.

For those of you who recommended the bidet, I can't thank you enough. It is one of those things until you start using it, you think how could i have been without this all of my life.

I got google home for xmas from the GF and i didn't think I would use it that much, but I use it several times a day. It is so much quicker and easier than siri. Also you can use it as an alarm, play the radio, play the news, set reminders, turn on and control netflix (i think you have to have chromecast), play and control podcasts. You can tell it to go back so many minutes, pause, play louder, etc.......

The worst thing about owning a bidet is when you travel and realize you have to clean yourself like a heathen. Packing wet wipes helps some, though.
