He wants to be recognized..thats the whole point. He's trying to stay relevant, because he's not so relevant anymore..well if you compare him to other stars i mean

I caddied for Shooter McGavin at a celebrity (c list) golf tournament at Mayacama golf course like 9 years ago. Guy was a prick but loved getting attention for his character, doing that snapping / pointing / smiling gesture more than once when ppl would call out SHOOTER.

The next year I caddied for non-celebrities who were playing in the same tournament, group of dudes from Vegas. I had HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE allergies that day and could barely stand nevermind double bag their obnoxiously heavy bags. They were cordial but not social, but each gave me a $200 tip, meaning I walked away with $500 given tips and bag fees. Think to this day it's on my top 10 list of most lucrative work days (lol social work).

When I ran a Blockbuster a decade or so ago now I helped Michael J. Fox like 4-5 times along with his wife Tracy once or twice. Very polite, down to earth, really great people.

Also helped Vinny Testaverde twice at Blockbuster as well. Pretty cool dude, albeit not as friendly as MJF/TP.

Helped Steven Renazzizi from The League when I ran a Levi's store. Cool dude, loves his Levi's.

Met Jennifer Lopez in the very early 00s thanks to the wifes connect at The Today Show. She was gorgeous in person, very nice.

Baseball hall of famer Mike Schmidt, stories from my autograph hound phase.

I noticed him drive into the stadium parking lot. I and five or six others raced his corvette around the stadium and kept up with him due to a bunch of speedbumps. He parked, stepped out and took my marker. He told us to hold up what we wanted autographed. He went around the circle and basically scribbled on cards, baseball's, etc. No chance would anyone belive my card is autographed by Schmidt as it looks like a scribble my three year old nephew would do.

Another time I accidentally handed him a card upside down. He proceed to sign it upside down. Of course it is the best Schmidt autograph I have.

He signed a baseball for me once. He signed so fast that both the top and the bottom of his signature is missing due to the curve of the ball.

Ben Affleck at the WPT Aruba UltimateBet used to put on. He was nice enough, took a picture with me.

Larry King at a Dolphins game - he was just walking along the concourse with a bunch of entourage, which I brazenly stopped to take a picture. That is one old dude.

Paul Pierce at WSOP Main event - talked for a couple minutes while we were waiting for Day 2 to start. Not as tall as I expected.

Bunch of NHL HOF'ers (Savard, Hawerchuk, Coffey, Lafontaine) at a charity NHL alumni poker tournament. One of the most special weekends of my life to hear all my childhood hockey stars telling stories from their playing days, especially Coffey and McSorley who played for the Oiler cup teams.

Jason Alexander at a PokerStars WSOP party back in 05. Friendly and pleasant.

I played in a summer league with NHL HOF'er Glenn Anderson. It was in Penticton, BC and if you wanted remotely competitive hockey in the summer this was your only option. It wasn't that big a league, four teams I think and you signed up and the teams were made up randomly. I was pretty surprised to walk in the dressing room for the first game and see Anderson. I played on his line for the few games he was there (he quit the league fairly early).

Was in 91 or 92, he was with the leafs then and on the downside of his career but still a solid NHLer and by far the best player in that summer league (it had a few other draft prospects and fringe NHLers in it). His shot was unreal.

My brother was in the league too but on a different team and our first game we played my bro's team. My brother was, and still is, a huge Leafs fan and was beyond stoked to be playing against Anderson. First shift he and Anderson go into the corner after the puck and my brother just levels him (we weren't big guys, Anderson slipped or wasn't ready or something, who knows). Anderson is pretty slow to get up and my brother is in agony because he is worried he may have hurt him. He was fine and turned out to be an aloof douchebag and my brother's feelings of remorse went away quickly.

Man I am old, I can't believe how many names in this thread I have absolutely no idea who they are.

I'm in the non-approaching category but was shocked when on a SW flight from Vegas to SF during summer league, Jerry West is the last guy on the plane. Surprised Lacob wouldn't have him flying private.

I met Willie Mays at an event in AC years ago. It was a big thrill for me. We had a picture taken and he autographed it for me. Really nice guy. Quiet.

I thought about it but was afraid he would want to punch me in the face because of hearing it so often.

Was reminded of a funny-ish story last night because I saw him on TV last night:

Walking to the NYU gym, I see a guy walking towards me who looks familiar but I can't place. He nods at me like we're buds and I just kinda look at him sideways and keep going, trying to figure out how I know him. When I get to the gym, all the girls are buzzing because Jerry O'Connell had just stopped by (this is when college girls might still get excited about him).

Ran white hot and have met probably 4 dozen celebrities in life. When I was in high school, Sarah Palin came into the restaurant I worked at and pretty much co-opted everyone into taking photos with her. It was really ****ing weird.

My best one though is I've actually become friends with Ben Roethlisberger (QB for the Steelers, an NFL team for ROW). Not sure if he's a "celebrity" but yeah, we met a bunch of times and then ended up going to the same church for a few years. After chance run-ins, he actually asked me my name/struck up a conversation. I always left him alone and I think he probably appreciated not being treated like a celebrity by someone normal in town. ( I use to live in Pittsburgh, where he plays)

Everytime I would see him after that, he would always come over and say hi/shoot the **** with me. I was on a date with a girl one time and he was at same restaurant/came over to say hi. The fact that Ben came over to me to talk pretty much sealed the deal on getting laid that day.

No one helps seal the deal quite like two time accused rapist Ben Roethlisberger.

Anyways after the game, I was at Applebee's (that's right!) And Nic Batum comes in! When the highlight is played at the end of Sportscenter he receives a rousing ovation from the Applebee's faithful!
Both you and Batum need to explain wtf you were doing in an Applebee's.

If you fly business class on certain hops (e.g., NY to LA), you'll see celebrities fairly frequently. I've done that trip for work fairly frequently over the last few years and I've seen Gene Simmons, Rihanna, Marlo from The Wire, Patrick Ewing, Madeleine Albright, and several others. I'm sure that I'm forgetting a few people.

He signed a puck for me and I dropped it when he handed it back. He apologized, I guess for a bad handoff. Theo signed autographs for all twenty or so people waiting. One of the nicest pro athletes I've met.

Gosling filmed part of a little known movie at my high school. He played the high school QB and we played on defense against him. He was super afraid of any contact and made it hard for us to try to make it look realistic.

Hung out with Lohan in college a few times, she was still normalish but certainly down to party.

Went to a small screening of Into The Wild after Sean Penn invited my gf and I in NYC. Was a rando collection of celebs there - Avril and her then-bf the Sum 41 guy, Jeremy Piven (who seemed like he was on pills.... also he hit on my gf, then was real cool/apologetic when he found out I was her bf, which I thought was pretty cool even tho I didn't care at all and was stoked about it)
