Buying a new Mazda 3 hatchback, any tips?

I'm buying a new Mazda 3 hatch and while I have read the threads about general car buying advice, I was wondering if anyone had any advice about how to get the best deal on this type of car specifically.

I'll be getting a 2012 and live in Canada (lol Canada) and plan to actually buy it on the last day of the month. I'm also thinking of trying to go to multiple dealers and tell them to give me their best offer approach. Any tips on what I should be shooting for in terms of a number and how much I can expect to get on a trade in? Trade in is essentially worthless so it'd be whatever the wholesale value is in Vancouver. If anyone has any tips at all I would greatly appreciate it! Many thanks.

all the reasonable used cars here of the car type are about 4-5k cheaper, which just isn't worth it long term.

Sell your used on craigslist. Dealer is going to give you half of what it's worth at best.

What does that even mean?

If money is no option then buy a new car. But if you care at all about building wealth buying a new car is one of the worst things you can do.
