but on a house shot won't be too hard especially if you can learn to shoot spares with your thumb in. If its a sport shot, especially a short oil pattern sport shot you have no chance.
Why the hell do they make you wear those retarded looking clown shoes? Is is to protect the lane from scuff marks and scratches, or is there some actual advantage to wearing those over typical running shoes?
I've only tried bowling 3-4 times in my life and that was playing 5 pin as a kid.
Allegedly, the reason house shoes are so ugly is to discourage theft.
But yes, the reason they are made that way is to slide, as most bowlers slide on their last step.
Never tried candle pin. But there was a duckpin lane somewhat close to me when I was a ten-pin bowler. I was getting better at 10-pin (up to a 170 avg) but I wanted to try duckpin. I was lolbad. It was so different, that it is barely the same sport.
Never tried lawn bowls, but it seems like it would also be a completely different sport.
EDIT: Nice crowd shot. Not exactly the ideal demographic for it become a huge spectator sport.

They're to protect the lanes and the soles are made to allow for slide. You can buy your own, you know. They do make shoes that don't look goofy.

think of a sport shot as putting on US open greens and a house shot putting on some random easy country club course. Then again if you don't golf you still might have no idea what I am talking about.
They definitely are dumping more and more oil each year as bowling balls are still getting stronger and stronger. It's retarded.
yeah I am able to stand like 8-10 farther right throwing 4-5 farther right at least, and I am still throwing it a little slower than I used to. It is super weird because I throw a decent amount of hook and now it feels like I don't with my old balls which isn't that bad of a thing seeing as how I can actually play the track area now. I'll probably get a newer ball or 2 just to see how much of a difference they are.
I'm currently in the middle of a season-long prop bet which requires me to average 200+ with each hand (I'm bowling one league left, one right). After the first four weeks, in which I've been borderline unconscious, I'm at 224 right, and 216 left. Ship the monies.
