Re: bowling
welcome to the thread, fellow bowler.
bowled the 2nd week of my summer doubles league last night and shot 193, ugh, 269 then moved pairs and went 279 255. 996. its a fact that new balls are awesome. its unreal how good they roll. my last 3 games were with a new defiant. yes, i spend way too much money on bowling balls.

Re: bowling
thanks!
There are worse things to spend money on than bowling balls imo.
803 the last 3 games - nice shootin'!

Re: bowling
went to visit some old friends in MA the other night and was bowling in my old house. the shot seemed really tough, none of us were scoring until the fourth game when my buddy (whose career high series was 714 and who averages probably 180 right now) gets the front 11 and ends up with 298. afterwards the lane tech comes over and tells him we were bowling on a PBA pattern they had put out for the sport league earlier in the night. holy ****

Re: bowling
How goes it cha? I'm living in Ames for a few years, but still bowl a bunch in MN whenever I'm in town.
Think I'm actually taking the summer off this year, although not really by choice. The only summer leagues around here are either way overpriced or 9 pin no tap. Really tempted to hit up the next few regionals, but can not afford it at this time. Likely going to bowl at least 3 regionals next year though.

Re: bowling
shot another 300 tonight. 300 224 234 195. you get $100 for a 300 or 800 in this league(1 each per season). thats 3 300 in 3 months, all in different leagues.

Re: bowling
thanks. not very good at all. it was all doubles, adult jr's. my bowling son shot his best set ever bowling with my wife, 743 and my wife shot 528(149 average) and i think they are in 1st for something. lol all 3 kids bowled bad with me but im just out there to have fun with them so i doesnt matter.
they say it was the usbc white pattern and thats what they use for their house shot. its pretty easy and the carry there was amazing! a 19 year old kid has the high average there with a 242. the carry sucks where i bowl so it was a nice change. lol

Re: bowling
Bought my first ball a few months ago (Storm Scout) and have been playing once a week struggling along to a 128 average. Then I watched some instructional stuff by Norm Duke on youtube and had a break-out day. I averaged 157 for 5 games today which included my all time best game of 213.
I'm really looking forward to next week and hopefully I can pick up a few more spares. For me, that's the hardest part of the game right now. I can generally get near the pocket with my strike ball, but moving around and making adjustments for spares has me a little confused most of the time.

Re: bowling
there is another good set of videos by brian voss. norn and brian will teach you the old school basics. they have been great bowlers for over 30 years.
great job on the 213 game. 213 was my very 1st 200 game and i got a backdoor strike to get it. spares, you really just need to learn a system that works for you. spares are the key to bowling. i would get a good 10 pins shot and then work on 7 pins. from the 7 pin shot you can work your way back to the 4 and 2 pin.they are really so close to the same shots.
