Re: bowling
I had been bowling 10 times in my life and most of my game were in the 60s and 70s and I never broke 100.
A few years go by of no bowling go by and I find myself playing with someone who is just ripping it down the lane and decide to try to emulate his style the best I could. First game I ended up breaking 100 with a few frames to spare and second game I ended up with score in the 160's.
I was bowling with ball that felt way too heavy and every ball thrown felt like it slipped out of my hand more than me releasing it. I was probably an injury waiting to happen but I escaped with a score that almost doubled my previous high.
My plan is to take a few more years off and repeat this same improvement and score myself a 300 game.

Re: bowling
Why the hell do they make you wear those retarded looking clown shoes? Is is to protect the lane from scuff marks and scratches, or is there some actual advantage to wearing those over typical running shoes?
I've only tried bowling 3-4 times in my life and that was playing 5 pin as a kid.

To protect and most people slide when they throw the ball.

So my mom would drive me to some bowling alley, me carrying some stupid present we got at the toy store that I didn't give a **** if the b-day kid would like or not. Then they made you put on some disgusting stanky uncomfortable shoes. All I remember about the actual bowling is shlepping those goddamn heavyass balls around, then when it was my turn to bowl, I'd chuck the thing down the lane and watch it slowly bounce back and forth against those inflatabnle bumper things. 5 minutes later the ball would reach the business end of the lane and knock down maybe 2 or 3 pins, and I'd have to do it AGAIN.
When I was in HS people would occasionally ask me if I wanted to go bowling but I always declined. After a while I realized they were talking about smoking weed.

This is the most depressing account of bowling that I've ever read, and that includes my uncle's suicide note about how his last bowling session pushed him over the edge.

Re: bowling
I wanted to make a prop bet that I could post a 200avg. within a month having unlimited practice and 3 pro lessons. I'm a pretty coordinated guy. Never really put effort into it, don't even put my thumb in the hole... but my two highest scores are 256 and 253 iirc. thoughts?

Well hell, Ron could make sunshine and lollipops sound depressing.
Bowling is life-affirming.

Too easy.
The normal shot at a bowling alley is so easy that almost anyone could do this. Especially with the 3 lessons.

Re: bowling
200 for how many games. If its just 3 then its super easy. If its 21 games it is a bit harder but on a house shot won't be too hard especially if you can learn to shoot spares with your thumb in. If its a sport shot, especially a short oil pattern sport shot you have no chance.

At one time I was one of the top ten bowlers in Washington state. True story.

Re: bowling
Closest I can come to a brag is I had the second highest average as a junior in San Diego County with the person ahead of me being Rhino Page. Not sure what my rank in CA was

Re: bowling
I used to bowl off an on when I was a teenager. Maybe 30 trips, no idea what my average was but there were some 150s & 160s in there. Years later I play a few games, on the last of the night I'm 5 strikes into a perfect game and have to bail as my ride had to leave.
Yeah I know it was a freak thing that wouldn't have lasted, but I haven't been bowling since.
