"He's saying HORSE," I explained.
My whole family laughed, because they could understand my brother perfectly, and had no idea why the kids were confused. It was a real-life "the two Yutes" from My Cousin Vinny moment.

Re: Bought a house, need cool things
Naturally I'd suggest a kegerator. If you're not handy at all, you can buy one for ~$600.
If you're slightly handy and own a drill, you can build one yourself for the cost of the fridge and ~$100.
And if you're really handy and like to build stuff, you can build an actual piece of furniture to store and pour your beer.

Re: Bought a house, need cool things
When I moved into my first apartment I bought a antique barber chair to use as a regular chair...cost all my savings, but was well worth it.
If I could do it all over again I would get some cool japanese furniture

You should get rid of all your furniture. All of it. And build these different levels, with steps, and it'll all be carpeted with a lot of pillows. You know, like ancient Egypt.

Re: Bought a house, need cool things
For yard stuff, no need to spend over $400 on a lawn mower unless you bought a plantation. Probably could spend less than $300 and not see a difference. edit - saw you wanted self propelled so it will cost more.
A basic weed whacker is needed, gas powered so you don't have to drag an extension cord around.
A blower, they are nice and work great, you can get a decent one that is plenty strong enough for like $60. My coworker has one for construction sites and they work great, bought my father-in-law a cheap one and he loves it.
You will be using these things 2-4 times a month, so no need to get top shelf stuff, use the saving to buy other things, like paint and new mouldings etc. Unless you are a baller than spend baby.
I got my flatwear/untensils at Crate and Barrell, or you can get a lot of kitchen stuff and Williams and Sonoma.
You don't need to fill the bookcase full of books, some books and some decorative accessories. Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware have some cool things too, just look at their pics of rooms for ideas and see if there's anything you like.
Eames molded plywood chair is IMO so badass but real expensive, http://www.dwr.com/product/eames-mol...e-chair-lcw.do

I don't know how you'll be comfortable with that.
