Samsonh,

Read the context of my OP. Common sense shows that I am clearly talking about being a project engineer.
This is an online forum; IRL in the workplace I don't refer to myself as a PE.

Interview with Siemens went great! They actually asked me how my experience would transfer over to their industry ( commercial building energy optimization ); I correlated it with my reliability experience, and expressed that I could learn anything new, and would be excited to do so.
In person interview with other company is in Thurs.
I really do appreciate all of y'all's feedback!!!!

not saying she should have used the PE incorrectly, but if you had read the thread you would have known that is what she is talking about.

It is your fault for not comprehending what you are reading, not hers.

Just to maybe expand your possibilities further, there are a lot of Project Engineers at bigger breweries. Check out Shiner, and I imagine there's an AB plant somewhere in TX.

Using PE would be ok if that were a commonly used abbreviation for project engineer. It is not because PE is taken by Professional Engineer. That is pretty common knowledge. That is the main problem. Not realizing or knowing this says something about someone's critical thinking skills imo. That and her reaction may be saying something important about who she is.

Anybody who is an engineer who uses PE in any sense but referring to a licensed professional engineer very likely might be committing a crime.

That's not what they told me when I called the cops.

I think she was fine to use PE in this forum as an abbreviation that means something else, she didn't use it in real life and did not misrepresent herself in any way to employers.

Also she just used PE to mean project engineer when talking colloquially here and it happened to overlap, I didn't take it to be that her intent was to mislead people about her being a Professional Engineer and I think she was pretty forthcoming with that.

I take it more to be like if she said she was project manager (PM) and then people were complaining that she was misleading people into thinking she was a/the Prime Minister (if she lived in another country.) Obviously not to that extreme but I think closer to that than people would agree with.

Yeah I'm just chiming in without reference to the exact use but def a big no no in the engineering community.

I don't see PE on her resume and I think she just said it offhand here. I understand why it is still kinda weird she did that, and her reaction was kinda strange, but for someone such as myself who is not in the engineering world, I didn't notice at first at all.

As long as it stays out of her resume and professional life, it seems fine.

I replied to the rejection email from the hiring manager asking for feedback.

Is anyone (that could give some honest feedback) willing to do a mock interview with me via skype tmrw. I really don't want to mess the interview up on Thurs, and I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

It sounded like you didn't have the experience, but were willing to learn. For a mega-corp, that's rarely going to work.

It's kind of a good thing, I mean bosses at a company called Siemens are probably even more likely to wrap their hand around their dick everytime you enter the room

This. I am a real PE and laugh about her using PE to mean Project Engineer. Anyone in the business would laugh about it too

What would your answer to the following interview question be: "Which aspect of being a project engineer don't you like?"

I'm not an engineer but I've worked with plenty of project engineers. Most of the non-engineers refer to them as PE in emails and such. Would have been kind of tilting to type it out each time imo.
Also I'm sure it would have been nice to land the Siemens job but most of the people I know that have worked for them haven't worked for them long term for a variety of reasons.

You were right. They said I did very well in the interview, and the only thing that put the other candidates ahead of me was experience.

So I just found out Wed that I didn't get the job I interviewed for last month. I had to wait a month so they could finish their interviewing. The feedback I got was that it was a toss up between me and another guy, and he had just a lil but more power plant experience than me so they went with him.

My total jobs applied is around 500+ now, and I haven't had an interview in a month.

The lease was up on my apt in June. Since then I have been staying in comped hotel rooms.
-The last week of June at Code3s brothers to take care of his dogs while he was on vacation.
-3 nights with my sister
-4 nights paid hotels
-almost a complete month of comped rooms casino hotel rooms

How much do you gamble in order to get a free room for a month?

Now that your apartment lease is up, when are you moving to Houston? You do realize that's why you're unemployed now, right?
