I could post a couple names, but I won't because the CK fanbois will get all upset.
I have heard CK and I think he's funny and I heard he generates more material than any current practitioner but I just think he's a bit over-rated on this forum.
So to be clear, you think there are better stand-ups working today but you won't say who? I was actually hoping you'd post some people I hadn't heard of that are funny because I'm pretty up on this stuff and don't think he has much competition at the moment, unless Chris Rock counts.

LFS, I listened to CK broke and laughed once. At the 2:30 mark when he said "if it's free, I can't afford it". That clip was actually less funny than other stuff I've seen of his.
CK's "broke" bit was the same re-tread bit every poor comedian (there are a ****ton of poor comedians) has done for 2 decades. With a bunch of well-timed F words. Amazing!
agree with OP almost 100%, except i do find him funny
i saw this movie in a small underground cinema filled with hippies smoking pot, and honestly i wanted to punch them in the balls the whole night
every time he said something to do with the government, drugs, police or w/e, they would all make a noise people make when they see a baby for the first time. it was like every observation he made, in their eyes, they wanted to praise him as the father of enlightenment.
dont get me wrong, he had some good points, but he wasnt the ****ing revolutionary his fans make him out to be

I think you've missed the boat on having any opinoin matter on him. There's just no way our generation could appreciate him when he was in his prime. I kinda liked his older stuff but he was always just an old man by the time Igot into standup.
Just lol at the guy that said CK is overrated. Easily in my top 5 comedians that Im aware of.
i dont really like him either, but comics do seem to respect him an awful lot...
i think bill burr is the funniest stand up comic currently working, i've re-watched and thoroughly enjoyed all of his stuff.

Since we're chatting about comics other than Hicks, my current favorites are Doug Stanhope, Bill Burr and Louis CK. Any recommendations for a fan of these comedians?
Since people have calmed down I'll say I think Norm MacDonald and Jim Gaffigan are "in CK's league". Maybe even Brian Regan. Greg Giraldo would have been up there but he's no longer eligible on a technicality. And I think Giraldo was probably better at the roasting than at traditional stand-up.
Still don't see wtf this has to do with whether or not CK is over-rated by a lot of people on 2+2.
But I welcome all the "LOL Jim Gaffigan sucks, your opinion means nothing" comments coming from Triumph36 who is obviously severely butthurt about his favorite comedian.
