Acceptable nominations will be posts containing only song name and artist, one per post. Example: Hurricane - Bob Dylan

Nominations will be taken until Sunday 4-24 at noon eastern, or until 160 songs have been nominated, whichever comes first.

The nominees will then be divided into 16 groups, and the top 4 vote getters in subsequent first round polls from each group will move on, with seeding for the remainng 64 to be done based upon total votes received in the first round. You know the rest.

If there arent 64 songs nominated by Sunday at noon, I wont bother with the poll, etc.

I dont care how you define classic rock, the numbers will be the judge, but if you tard up the nominations with crappy obviously ridiculous choices, i reserve the right to disregard them.

My extensive scientific research indicates that nothing recorded after 1985 can be classic rock.

My local classic rock stations all play the real early pearl jam and nirvana and ****...I think pre 1993 would be ok, considering that early 90's stuff is 20 years old.

However you guys wanna do it is fine with me, though.

I have two problems with that: one, that music already has a definition, and it is grunge. Two, music that is recent enough for me to have bought on CD as a teenager cannot count as classic rock because that would mean I am old, a clearly laughable scenario.

LFS is obv right about definition of classic rock, and those who disagree probably weren't even born in 1985 (though '85 may be a bit late). Unfortunately his nominations will not be counted as they do not follow the proper format.

I mean, my first choice was Bark at the Moon, which would fall under the genre of Metal. I feel the term "classic rock" is an all encompassing super-genre.

85 may be late, but I looked at the Billboard charts and saw songs I think qualified all the way up to 1984.

If my nominations are disqualified because I did not follow instructions will someone else please nominate Born to Run? Because it should go deep.

That said, basically every Zeppelin song qualifies and many could win. I think it should just be a given that Zeppelin is clearly the standard-bearer and everything else is playing for second at best.
