A lot of these allegations have been around for years, long before the mainstream media suddenly discovered them. So not all of them are bandwagon jumpers, although some of the recent ones might very well be.

Another thing is that morals have changed. In the 70s Cosby slipping some wannabe actress a pill and taking advantage of the results wasn't seen as rape, at least not by as many people as now. It was just wild partying. Nobody had ever heard of "date rape". Only later did people realize, not so cool, as more men came to think of women as people. We don't consider Thomas Jefferson a pederast and rapist although he was taking advantage of what now would be called underage enslaved persons. In Europe they still think Polanski did nothing wrong, and there's always been a double standard for good directors and comedians.

He's correct. Take the Louisa Moritz accusation (the 68-year-old woman who was forced to give oral to Cosby backstage) for example. She doesn't specify if this was the first time giving oral to him, or what their relationship was like. It's supremely likely that at some point in time there were actresses who hoped sleeping with Cosby might help their career, and DS is suggesting that when it did not, their reflection on what happened became predator-prey instead of symbiosis.

If someone in a position of power or influence is using that power to get people to have sex with them in the hopes of a future reward, that isn't really "symbiosis". It's still predatory. If a boss suggests that a person who reports to them might get a promotion or a bonus by having sex, that's not a fair and mutually beneficial exchange. If Crosby implied that sex with him would mean he would advance a woman's career, not to mention the explicit or implicit threat about what he might do to their careers if they did not have sex with him, that can hardly be characterized as a fair exchange followed by buyers remorse.

This is probably somewhat off-topic but I was under the assumption that one of the two accusers was more or less proven a liar via CCTV/Witness statements, and the other seemed to only have interest in a civil case (aka $) and refused to press any criminal charges.

No. What I said isn't a "definition" meant to apply to all situations. I'm saying that people that use their influence to coerce sexual favors from subordinates aren't exactly innocent. And this shouldn't be a controversial position.

Well everybody except the principals involved is playing a guessing game. The point is that speculation that the women involved actually were having consensual sex, for the purpose of personal gain, and that the accusations have arisen because they didn't get what they want, is also a "guessing game". My point is that, even if you accept this highly speculative view that is quite dismissive to the women involved, it hardly absolves Cosby of any misconduct.
