Overall, I feel great. I'm riding high from the experience. My insomnia seems to be cured. I have way more energy and my overall attitude towards life has totally turned around. No longer am I feeling depressed. I haven't smoked, nor compensated for the lack of weed. In fact, I was going to save what little weed I had for special occasions and such. But after a couple of days of just know it was there, I got rid of the temptation via the toilet. Yes, I flushed about a 1/4 oz of weed down the ****ter.
I'd like to thank everyone for urging me and helping me take the giant leap. I have a long way to go, but it's actually a fun journey. And if you aren't already, you can follow along in my blog mentioned somewhere in this thread.
Peace.

Congratulations on your success.
I was never really big, but I was definitely overweight. I was 6' 2'' and 245 pounds. Now I'm at 175 pounds. I lost 70 pounds a few years ago and have kept every bit of it off.
One of the things that I realized is that it's all the small stuff, which seems really insignificant, and is, but adds up day after day. For example, I have two cups of coffee every morning. I use to use two teaspoons of sugar and cream in each. That's 100 calories a day in sugar and cream for my coffee. I now only use a half teaspoon of each in each cup, which is only 25 calories a day. That saves me 75 calories a day. That's not a big deal but multiply it by 365 and that's 27,375 calories a year, which is almost 8 pounds I lost in a year from that really simple and painless thing. It's also easy to keep it up as it is just a habit now, which means I don't gain the weight back.
Other things, I never finish the last bite or two of my meal. Again, not a big deal, but if you save just 20 calories from each meal by not taking the final bite or two that comes out to over 6 pounds at the end of one year. I also use to always get a soda pop whenever I went out to eat. That's almost 200 calories. Now I just drink water. I could go on and on with a million stupid, seemingly insignficant things that I do.
I think the thing that worked for me was that I didn't drastically change my lifestyle. I never deprived myself or felt deprived. I just tweaked everything. I still order a pizza once a week but instead of getting a large pizza and making it two meals, I get a medium pizza and make it three meals. I basically eat the same, but a lot less. That works for me.
Also, I would definitely do some internet searchs about how many calories your body burns at its current weight and how many it will burn at lower weights per day. That way you can know exactly how many calories you can eat and burn per day to have a deficit and lose weight.
Keep it up, and good luck. Seems like you're on the right track. And nice looking dog.
