I had not heard of anhedonia before. First Google result:

Anhedonia refers to the reduced ability to experience pleasure.

Stop feeding the beast.

I would have gone with the first suggestion, you apathetic armadillos, but I'm fine with this one.

Color me surprised that such a smugly contemptuous poster would admit to being unfamiliar with anhedonia. He must be too busy having fun!

The list of suggestions is becoming an interesting read rather than the bore (I thought) it was only a couple of months ago.

Someone should start a thread where every comment has to go through chatgpt before posting.

Good idea, bigger.

A poster who likes Bob Dylan to an unsettling extent responded in the thread by saying "Don't feed the beast." Thoughts?
ChatGPT:

Quote:
The phrase "Don't feed the beast" is often used to suggest not giving attention or acknowledgment to something or someone who thrives on controversy or negative attention. In this context, it seems like the poster who likes Bob Dylan to an unsettling extent might be referring to their own obsession or enthusiasm for Bob Dylan. They might be self-aware of their intense passion for Dylan's work and could be humorously suggesting that others shouldn't encourage or fuel their fervor further.

It could also be interpreted as a lighthearted way of saying, "I know I'm a bit over the top with my Bob Dylan adoration, but let's not make it worse by discussing it too much." In essence, they are acknowledging their own enthusiasm while playfully reminding others not to indulge it excessively.

Overall, it seems like a humorous and self-aware comment that aligns well with the spirit of the low-content thread. It's always enjoyable when posters inject some light-heartedness and wit into the discussions.
I think ChatGPT is onto something here!

You walk into the room with your pencil in your hand
You see somebody naked and you say, "Who is that man?"
You try so hard but you don't understand
Just what you will say when you get home
Because something is happening here but you don't know what it is
Do you, Mr. Jones?

Damn, I gots the anhedonia.

I've got myself into a very large (by my standards) and extremely swingy private online game. Total of about 13 players, all recs apart from daytime 2/3 reg who isn't a crusher at all. I would think I'm somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd best player in the group with several clear fish. Extremely gambolly though and disgusting beats are handed out on the regular

Last 4 nights have been either plus or minus a sum between 2k and 7k with 4 and 3k losses the last two nights. IDK how many of you guys have played big but for me at least, it's not easy trying to sleep after having big losses. Even though I'm up over 10k the past 3 weeks, I'm gunshy now and am not entirely sure that the juice is worth the squeeze.

Yeah, mental roll is a thing. Even though I've long been rolled for 2/5, since it goes so rarely in the places I've lived, I never really got comfortable with the swings mentally. I have no idea how PLO players handle it.
08-02-2023 , 01:30 AM
and this is only 1/2/4 but it plays huge. We’ve had people winning 12k in a night and one guy that managed to lose 27k in a week who is somehow still playing.

And I’m by far the nittiest playing 27/17 with 7% 3 bet. There are guys playing 55/45 with giant 3 bet numbers and they rarely fold to the 4!

Because the game is unlikely to last, it’s hard not to play every night and make hay but it’s playing havoc with my adrenals!

Found an old 1040A tax form while going through a box of old pictures. From 1959. Taxes seemed to be pretty easy back then.

Wait til you find the W2s to go with it. When Mom died, found all Dad's w2's back to 1958 I think. He was making something like $1900/year in the Air Force as some kind of NCO.

Takeaway here is, don't be a hoarder, and be at least a little diligent about getting rid of unnecessary junk so others won't have to sort through it.

that old grey metal box collected garage dust for as long as memories.
never looked inside until we took final inventory of mom's estate.

Just saw a reporter ask Tennessee Titans coach how many 5 year olds he thought it would take to tackle Derrick Henry.

That originated here, right?
