wine glasses work fine, but I wouldn't buy stemless glasses for cocktails because you will warm up the drink as you hold it.

El_T,

Loving the Blue Blazer avatar, you had it long or was I just pig ignorant last year?

Best,
Pete

Pete,

I had no avatar until very recently. I've been reading "Imbibe!" by David Wondrich and it has the Blue Blazer in the cover, so I decided to grab it.

I have yet to try to make one, but I found a great video tutorial:

So remember I talked about having sweet tea base. It is english breakfast tea, stronger than normal because it will be served chilled. Then add simple syrup. This is sweet tea base. It should taste nice by itself.

Here are two NEW things you can add!

1. Lemongrass stalk. Use it as a stirrer, and ALSO you can mash it to get lemongrass flavor. This is great.

2. Half a lemon, cut into slices. Then, sear these lemon slices. You can slightly char the lemon sacs as well, it makes it taste better for some reason. Put these seared lemon slices into a glass of the sweet tea.

Non-alcoholic but tastes great

First try! I didn't add sugar or coat the sides with sugar.

Came out too sour. I think I am using mutant huge lemons, so I will try half the lemon juice instead.

After I finish this one...

You used the whole lemon? That must be almost 2oz, certainly too much for the drink. Do you have a jigger to measure?

I used half the lemon. My shaker top is a 1oz.. I could squeeze into the top? How much lemon juice should it be?

Garcia,

I always use half a lemon, but not squeezed very hard (that's what she said)

I use even less these days. My ratio is 2-1-0.5, but it's certainly a matter of personal taste after you experiment with a few.

I didn't even know what this brand is. I had to go to the heart of Jersey City to find a bottle. I tried it and realized Jim Beam doesn't taste like lighter fluid after all.

Been on a big homemade infusion kick lately, and wanted to share a recipe I just whipped up the other night.

2oz spiced rum infused w/ dried habaneros
1oz lemon juice
1oz grade b maple syrup

Shake and enjoy!

That sounds really interesting. Reminds me that I need to make a batch of horseradish vodka

It was pretty darn yummy, but I do think the heat might burn out your palate if you drank too many of them in a row...

Also, your horseradish vodka sounds amazing and will definitely make an appearance in my next batch of bloody marys
