friend has been seeing this girl for about two months, essentially is his girlfriend (in process of being official I think). his birthday is in a couple of weeks, and his roommate is throwing a party for him. he's new to the city so his friends are mostly some friends from college, his roommates friends, and his coworkers. he's wants to invite a decent amount of coworkers plus his manager

his 'gf''s best friend is really, really annoying (and kind of looks like a fat oompa loompa). they've hung out a decent amount because she is so close to the girl he is seeing. her other friends are okay (one is confirmed hot), but this one is terrible. he says he's only hung out with her when she's been drunk but every time she has been that really drunk/unbearable girl that we all knew from HS/College. obviously doesn't want to have this girl mucking up the party and being obnoxious, especially with his coworkers there..

so, obviously gf is coming, but it's a legitimate 'party' so it would be pretty hard to tell her that one of her friends (her best friend...) can't come, especially because he's hung out with them all a lot recently. he's told this girl that her friend is really annoying but you can only say so much I guess without being offensive.

how do you handle this situation? (optimal result would also include not seeing annoying girl in the future as well)

Obvious solution is for your buddy to get a really good friend (like one that would post this on a message board for him) to take one for the team and invite the oompa loompa out on a date that night.

You can try to finish it early and catch the back end of the party too, I guess,

Non-funny answer: deal with it. She's attending.

This. Grow the **** up. Part of being an adult is learning how to deal with people gracefully.

You know if you really wanted to be an adult somebody could have a respectful talk with her. Might help you both out.

2) contact the grenade and set up a spectacular date the night of the party
3) tell the gf about the party after the whale is booked for the evening
4) gf now doesnt have to mention the party since she knows fatty "has plans"

Make it a surprise party. His roommate would be doing the inviting, so he would be the one that doesn't invite her. He doesn't even have to tell his rm's gf about the party. GF doesn't know, then annoying doesn't know.

Yeah- there is no answer beyond "deal with it" and maybe a touch of "grow up". Annoying friends happen, and if you want to date the chick, her friends come with her.
