The marginal added pleasure I get when I find a really great local restaurant is very small when compared to the disappointment I have when the meal at a local restaurant is well below my expectations for a reasonable meal. I would need to find 20 great places to make up for one awful place. 90% of places are awful. At a national chain at least you know what to expect.

I like having what I consider to be a legitimately tough choice, making an intuitive guess and being correct by an order of magnitude (or was it two? I honestly don't remember)
