Sounds about right. I was programming on about the smallest computers available back then. They used core memory, 4k bytes took up about the space of a large briefcase.

The age of cell phone videos has really thrown light on human behavior. The extent to which the post-fight stories the participants tell differs from reality is remarkable.

I watch a lot of fight videos on YouTube. The time of WORLDSTAR's dominance in fight videos seems to have passed.

Fast food fights are probably my favorite category. Walmart fights are pretty good too. And all sorts of transit-related fights.

The best/shortest/scariest fight I ever witnessed was at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, circa 1981.

The evolution of the Garlic Festival is best described by the movie Road House.

Currently, it exists as a post-Swayzean Nirvana where well-heeled Millenials can valet park their hybrids and drink microbrews in relative peace.

The early 80s corresponded to the time when the Double Deuce was a sawdust joint and Jeff Healey was playing behind cyclone fence. The cheap beer flowed freely and if you arrived early enough, you could park your car right next to the festival site, though you might have problems exiting.

Such was the case this day as a couple of young men were creeping through the foot traffic in their car, trying to exit the facility. A young pedestrian, accompanied by his female companion expressed concern that their car might be in too close proximity to their intended path, and a discussion ensued.

The passenger apparently felt that exiting the vehicle would be the best way to reinforce the points he was making ("You want to fight, dickless?") and as the walker was preparing to respond ("I ain't gonna show you mah dick.") the driver ran around the front of the car and promptly dropped him with a single right cross.

They returned to the car and drove off as the young lady knelt next to her companion, crying. The moral of the story, if there is one, is probably "be nice"

I appreciate "justice" fights. there was one where some idiot was throwing glass bottles into the crowd on the bar patio. a guy just walks right up, decks him cold, then walks away. perfect!

Scariest fight I've seen was Vegas on new year's eve. If you've never been, the strip is completely bonkers - shoulder to shoulder people so tight that if someone knocks you over it can get pretty dicey.

So the fireworks happen (I think over the Venetian?) and things are cool. People start dispersing after they're done, and legit like 30 seconds after they're over these 8 guys square off 4 vs 4 and stay just wailing on each other.

Everyone gets out of the way, but I decide it's smart to start videotaping with my lolfliphone (it was like 2004). It takes me 4 or 5 seconds to realize that standing 10 feet away filming them in 130i is really not a good idea.

2 guys are sleeping and the other 6 are still going at it - my friends had already (smartly) bailed and I looked around, realized this is bad news bears and took off running to Harrah's.

Had dinner with OOT's Sweetheart Villian1 this evening. Can confirm he is still alive as of a few hours ago, despite not having had a single piece of sushi since we last dined together a couple of years back.

We were discussing divisive foods that people have significantly diverging opinions on regarding preparation and I asked him for an example after naming guacamole as mine. His response: sausage gravy

I'm about 85% sure he wasn't trolling me.

He later switched his example to pizza which led to the inevitable hawaiian pizza discussion that somehow involved gregorio, but the damage was already done.

Had a pretty solid crabcake and learned how to say "hello" and "thank you" in Latvian.

My stupid answer is chocolate cake, now everything is flour-less molten whatever with the gooey ultra richness, it's totally changed it's look. My mom used to make a chocolate cake with flour that would soak up all the vanilla ice cream and wasn't overly rich. I would order that from a restaurant given the option any day.
