Alobar,

Sounds like you really suck at getting your bag out of the overhead bin!
08-16-2017 , 02:53 PM
Fwiw I wait till the plane is practically empty before leaving and often fly without checked in bagage.

standing in what line? you just wait in your seat then get out when the row in front of you gets out...

would be the same situation even if I didn't have a bag in the bin.

This never happens, +- everyone gets up at the same time and wait there standing like a bunch of *******s before they can get their lugage and everyone else who are standing in their way have grabbed their **** as well.

Alobar,

If you briskly walk off via an empty aisle, how are people slowing the exit process down for you?

yes but you don't need to be one of the idiots standing up early

unless you somehow manage to only fly on planes with neanderthals then the people in rows behind you aren't going to force their way up the aisle before you get out

I like to stand and crouch down in the window seat area for 10 minutes.

Why don't the airlines, which have boxes that all carry-ons are supposed to fit in, enforce their own rules? About 80% of the stuff that goes into overheads exceed the max carry-on size. Instead, the airlines respond by making the manufacturers put bigger bins in their planes. Women are dragging bags onto planes that they literally cannot lift into the bins. If you can't lift it over your head, you should have to check it. The airlines would make more money too, with more bags being checked.

here's a quick way to maybe get $300 to $900 for free

enter your cell phone number into this site (select the third option) and see if you're a member of a class action settlement regarding robocalls:
https://www.rmgtcpasettlement.com/Landing.aspx

you can read more info here:
http://www.miamiherald.com/news/nati...167331957.html

my phone number got a hit, so looking forward to getting a check for $900 in a few months!

Maybe its just cuz I typically sit in the back of the plane, but absolutely 100% people getting their carry ons slows the exit process down and by the time I get my bag and am leaving the plane, its a completely clear isle in front of me and I can briskly walk off the plane. That's pretty much how it is every single time I fly. I can't ever think of a time I got my bag from the over heard bin and then had to stand in line to get off the plane.
Sounds like it's people like you holding everyone up. Get yer **** and be ready to walk as soon as the person in front of you takes one step.

That said, I don't really think there is another way to do it.
Make people with bags sit in the back. How? Don't put any overheads in the front. Coupled with enforcing the max bag size, this would solve the problem entirely.

I do the crouch thing, but even in coach I try to be in front.

You (or someone else) said people getting bags from bins doesnt slow the exit process because even after you get your bag you still end up waiting in line at the door to get off the plane. I'm saying thats not the case.

I guess I shouldnt have said empty isle, I just meant there isnt a line and theres no one slowing you down.

Are you really trying to argue that if we had 2 planes side by side and in one plane no one had anything in the overhead bin and the other one was your typical flight, that the last person gets off both planes at the same time?

It's "up to" $300/call, max 3 calls. Lawyers are taking a third from the max $12.5m settlement, so expect some fraction of $300 per call. Settlement amount per call also impacted by the number of total claims (don't worry the fake lawyers will get their full third no matter what) so don't go celebrating at Olive Garden just yet.

as far as lolplanes go, I'm legit convinced that airlines deliberately make the general experience as horrible as they think customers will tolerate, in order to sell upgrades that relieve the horribleness that they create.

It's like a mini version of rent seeking. Little things like not setting up proper line queues in the boarding area in order to sway people into paying for early boarding instead of dealing with the swarm and risking not having a place left for their carry-on. Or ignoring their own carry-on restrictions knowing that this will cause people to bring excessive amounts and preventing others from having a space to put their stuff etc.

I've definitely gotten many spam calls about cruises, and I was excited to get my moniez. But I wasn't in the database.

If you're at the back and there's nobody slowing you down getting off the plane, then what good does it do you if those people get off a little faster?
08-16-2017 , 07:37 PM
El D,

I dont understand. The slowdown is before I get my bag, not after.

Thanks OOT!

Hi all! Looking for London and Paris dining recs. Won't have clothes to go super fancy but don't mind paying for something memorable. Thanks!
08-16-2017 , 07:55 PM
Alobar,

You're in row 30. Last person in row 29 gets their bag down. What happens next? You wait until they get to the door, then grab your bag and jog down the aisle?

Edit: almost every time I'm deplaning, there's a long line of people from multiple rows standing up ready to go with their bags retrieved before the cabin doors are opened. People filing off the plane is the bottleneck, not people getting their carryons.

grunching,
why does the time waiting for people to get off the plane in front of you (or to get their overhead bags if you're on a euro size Yakplane?) even matter?
You're still going to be waiting at baggage claim whether you are first off the plane or last. Or whether you wait 2 minutes or 15.
And for anyone who claims to fly with no bags at all, why the hell are you flying in the first place?

Cs,

Lol @ checking bags unless traveling with kids and/or elderly family.
