Re: The Ask A Cop Thread

Sorry these trolls are ruining the thread, pretty good imo. Also maybe its just me, but I seem to notice in the few cops/LEO people I know that after they get the job they have a better than you attitude to them that they didn't have before. Is this pretty common?

Re: The Ask A Cop Thread

Yea, it happens. Usually they even back out in about 4-6 years. There are many factors, some of it is just the ego of being a cop, some is the pride of attaining what is a lifelong dream, if you went through a paramilitary academy getting through that instills an even bigger ego.

I have a theory with police academies that the more paramilitary it is, the bigger tool you come out as for a while.

It's just observations I've made from watching various cops I know who attended different academies.

Re: The Ask A Cop Thread

The substandard moderation of the politics forum has left a few idiots to believe they can do the same in here. Closing thread briefly to clean it up. When it re-opens anybody continuing to politard it up (that means you leoslayer and LirvA) will be banned.

OK- deleted a ton of crap, left some of the responses because dude was nice enough to give legit responses to trolls.

What are some of the biggest specific mistakes you think you made in your career?

Yea, once.
Also, I have a tip for you to try to save this thread, considering your answers have been pretty underwhelming, almost to the point of making one wonder why you started it.

This is an interesting question and interesting answer, if you want to make this thread readable I would recommend taking initiative to do so by perhaps elaborating on a question like this with an actual story.

Re: The Ask A Cop Thread

The quality of his answers has been on the same level with the incredibly insulting, trollish questions that have been asked. Many were better than y'all deserved.

I think lots of people recognize the OP from his incredibly low-quality, reactionary body of work from the police thread in the politics forum.

Hmm.. That's a good question. Professionally I think of a few positions I regret taking and a few others I turned down.

On the street, I'd say probably giving up too soon on a couple tracks through rough terrain. One was on a sex offender, who ended up getting caught a couple days later.

I consider myself really fortunate that I can't think right off the top of my head of anyone who's been hurt or killed due directly to mistakes I've made.

I'm aware of this, however I have my own reasons we won't be discussing the getting shot at question at this point in time.

Let's just say the reasons are legal, not psychological.

Interesting that the only regret from street work that you mention involves a lack of zeal.

Do you think that this would be common among most officers if asked the same question? If you don't feel comfortable speaking for them, then that's okay, but hazarding a guess is fine too.

Oh yes, the 3000 post monster where I was called a racist, sociopathic, kidnapper who threw people in cages for a plant I didn't like. Which btw happened prior to me really answering a ton of questions. These responses were NOT responses to things I said, just me being a cop in general.

I also received several death wishes in that thread. Definitely a work to remember.
