Seems like this MLB Postseason Reservation System is outside the normal ticket.com system the Giants use so no way to talk to customer service to work it out. Is there anyway to work around this? Tickets are $120+ a piece on Stubhub so its pretty freaking frustrating to see them go to complete waste. Would be willing to pay up to 50% commission just to get some value of of them if you can work some magic in this situation.

Sorry for ignoring the thread, guys, I have been super-busy with MLB postseason games...

Pwn_Master...I got totally F***ed on this as well. Had a ton of reservations for the first round games and I ended up not even buying the tickets when I saw will-call only. If any of my World Series reservations hits, I will fly to the city to pick them up, but for the DS and CS rounds, I just had to take the hit. This was total 100% BS because when we bought these reservations, there was absolutely ZERO notification or even hint that these would be will call only.

However, if they end up playing the Yankees they are going to be Fri night/Sat. games, and combined with the higher interest in the Yankees and it being the ALCS, imagine this would create a pretty significant premium over face value. Since the Yankees took game 1 against the Twins on the road, they are now like -400 to win the series, so this seems like a fantastic "bet." You are essentially betting on the Yankees/Twins series at fantastic odds, but if the Rangers lose you have no action. Combined with the Rangers winning game 1 and thus reducing the chance you are tying up your money for nothing, looks like a great time to go ahead and buy as many tickets as you can get your hands on. Game 2, which would be on a Saturday, seems like a particular no-brainer to me.

6. this might be one of my favorite ask me threads. really cool info. i def hope the big sites don't eat you brokers up.

1) This has been a great year for first round matchups. Even Texas has turned out to be a great market for the ALDS. I hit the following onsales really hard: MIN, NYY, SF....I didn't touch Texas (turned out to be a mistake)..and I only bought a few for the Reds (turned out to be a huge $5k-10k mistake...my buddy ended up buying about 80 tickets and has already made $6,000 on them. I bought 12 and decided to move on).

I totally ignored Rays and Braves. on Rays super-premium seats you might have made a little money, but any uppers for those 2 teams were garbage.

Turns out the first round market was: CIN>>>PHI>>SF=NY>Min>>Tex>>>>>>>>>tb/atl

Going into the onsales, I had my money in MIN>>>>SF>>>>>NY=CIN (couldn't even pull any phillies tickets, it was that tough) and have had one of my best Octobers yet.

2) Best mlb seasons this year, MIN>>>>PHI>>>>NYY>>>BOS...rest of the teams you would have broken-even at best. Of course if you have season tickets first few rows behind the dugout you will do well in any market, but good luck getting those seats.

3) the new stadiums are a pretty recent phenomenon, the only brand-new parks I have avoided investing in are Mets (too expensive), Nats (obv), Pirates (obv). STL, MIN, NYY have been great in their first years...Target Field this year alone broke sales records for me. It will be interesting to see how long that lasts...Busch Stadium is already a net loss for 90% of the season-ticket locations

4) I avoid getting involved in events that are non-sellouts, the margins are just not that great, and buying way under-face and selling for just under face is no-fun, it's way too much of a grind. Many brokers in crappy markets have made their living doing that for a long time, however.

5) You will almost always find a cheaper ticket on the street before the game. I sold a pair of Reds Game 3 tickets this afternoon, 18th row behind the Reds dugout for $450 a ticket. There is no way in hell that will be the price on the street (well obv now that the Reds are 0-2).

On Thursday night I was on the street outside Target Field. I had 2 pairs of Club level seats behind the plate...row 1 and row 2. I sold the row 1s the day before the game on Stubhub for $350 each. I sold the row 2s on the street for $120 each. I told the guy to make sure to ask the pair in front of them how much they paid

6) thanks, sorry for updating so infrequently.

To be honest, I haven't even looked into Phish. My understanding is that the fan club lottery is really important on those tours? I don't think I've ever bought a Phish ticket, I thought I heard that last year's tour was really soft.

basically, i'm gonna buy tickets for the raider game eventually i just feel like i can find a better deal in a week but don't wanna get screwed either.

Originally had 6 bleacher ($42 break even) tickets to tonight's Reds game, sold a couple for $76 a pop before realizing the market was gonna go nuts. Unloaded one more for $150 a few days ago, planning to use the 3 remaining to go with 2 friends. One of my buddies found out he has to go to a pre-night for some on-campus recruiting, and called to let me know when the Reds were up 4-0 the other night. I promptly put that seat on Stubhub, and it went for $225 within 20 minutes and before the Reds complete meltdown. I proceeded to go out and get ****-canned afterward and I've been in a Reds-induced depression ever since to the point where I barely even wanna go to the game tonight. But at least my buddy let me know when he did, as waiting an hour and a half would've seen that tickets value get nearly halved.

My buddy sold a four pack of field boxes (60 ea face) for $519 ea on stubhub on Friday night.

Yeah, it said they would mail them to you or if it was too late to mail them by the time the game was certain there would be some alternative method. Would assume print at home would be the method but apparently not.

This system seems to be totally outside the normal ticketing system though so I think that is why. Was persistent and talked to a "Ticketing Manager" in a NYC office where apparently this operation is organized. She said they send a list of the people who make the reservations to team's will call office 3 hours before the game. She was able to switch my name on the list to that of a friend-of a friend that happened to live in SF and was willing to give me ticket costs + the reservation fee for the tickets so worked out.

MIGHT be able to do that with your clients, but I wouldn't count on it as communications were dicey. Took 1 1/2 days to get a response to my email that said they would try to do it, then had to call the lady who responded (her phone # was in signature line of email) to confirm they were going to switch it.

If worth your time talking to this lady, then I can send you her email and phone #.

Also, noticed demand for the Rangers-Rays ALDS 1 pm game today was extremely low. Like you could find tickets with a face value of $30 for $12. Was that just because of the quick turnaround from the game yesterday at 5pm which made this game necessary and competing with the Cowboys who have a 4pm home game today?

Sorry I kept missing this. To be honest, I wouldn't expect prices to come down much. If you are only looking for 2 seats and just want to get in, you MIGHT be better served waiting until Friday, Saturday to start shopping around craigslist, ebay, etc. If you are looking for good seats or aren't as price sensitive, right now is as good a time to buy as the next couple days. There isn't a huge amount of inventory for this game right now, and I wouldn't expect it to increase much.

(I have never sold a niners ticket in my life, this is really just based on a cursory look at Stubhub and ticketnetwork.com)

Thanks for the info, I was able to a call a couple other brokers and get a contact # for someone in the MLB office who is willing to overnight me tickets if any of my other reservations come through for games. (Giants WS one time??)

Funny right? I was selling Rangers game 3 tickets yesterday over the phone until about 20 minutes to game-time for $65 uppers, $80 lowers, $150 lower level infield seats. I was very skeptical about a noon Sunday game and didn't touch it...I saw $5 seats on Stubhub.

I'd think a hedge of $8-10K would be conservative. Just curious, how many damn tickets did you get for $40k?

Here is what you need to know to maximize your EV:

Sale starts at 9am est. The link is in your "congrats" email.

Click that at like 8:25-8:30 and you will be at the Reds page which will contain a link to get to the purchase page. The link will probably be clickable by 8:40. This will take you to a blank which refreshed at exactly 9:00:01, will be where you should PASTE your password (CTRL C the pw at 8:30).

Here is what you need to do:

Paste pw, hit enter
Immediately click the "t" link next to NLDS HG 1
Enter "6" in quantity. Here is your first choice. I am going to hit the $70 Infield Boxes for game 1, and the $35 Kroger Bleachers for HG 2 and 3.

Enter captcha, when you pull your tix, immediately hit "continue" and then "add another game", and go to HG2 then HG3.

HG2 won't have very good resale values at all, HG1 should be decent, and HG3 should be very good. If you have limited funds, go for the $35 seats for all 3 games.
Thanks for the great tip here. Can I ask a question - how do you go about entering these ticket lotteries multiple times? You mentioned that you entered 30 times. Are you changing your ip address, and if so, what procedure do you go through? Thanks in advance...

I actually buy most of my codes on the secondary market. There are "brokers" out there that farm codes for a living. I'm not sure how they do it, but it must involve tens of thousands of gmail accounts.

**If this is considered SPAM someone please let me know and I will delete it***

I might as well mention I have a good number of codes for the SF Giants World Series private sale on Friday afternoon. Each code allows you to purchase 4 WS tickets (to one game or spread out)...I will sell them for $300 each with a full refund if Giants lose NLCS, or $175 each with no refund, pm me if interested.

Question..

I got more tickets than I needed for the Heat/Nets at the Prudential Center, face value ~$70. I was hoping to get rid of them for a nice profit but then realized 2 weeks before the game, there are 3200 seats available on stubhub, and the prices for similar seats in the section are being priced below face value.

It's Lebron/Wade/Bosh's first trip to the Tri-state area!

Any idea why there isn't as much as demand as anticipated?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but for the Nets, face value is a big-time sucker price. I had a Nets season ticket rep cold-call me in August (I have never bought a Nets ticket in my entire life, they must have found me through another broker or Stubhub??) and offer to sell me lower level season tickets for 50% of the SEASON ticket price, which was already a huge discount under face.

I also know that a bunch of NHL teams sell lowers for less than 50% of face to brokers if they buy in bulk (think entire rows). To be honest, I would just price your tickets $1 cheaper than the comparable sections on Stubhub and get out of those.

Random questions: I bought Miami Dolphins tickets on Stubhub (Sunday and Thursday) for my trip there in November and I noticed two things and just wondered how typical they were.
1. The Thursday night game (NFL Network) tickets were 50% higher than the Sunday game. In fact I got the Sunday game for under face value.
2. Some sellers could only guarentee tickets two days before the game (Mid-November) since I'm coming from Ohio that wasn't good enough and wanted tickets in hand before the trip. Is that just an overlook from the seller guarenteeing them late or are they selling tickets they don't have yet?
