I have been reading everything on 2+2 for over a year now, but haven't had anything to really contribute. This is the only thing i can think of that might interest people.

I sailed around the world on a 41' sailboat in 2005-2006 w/ my younger brother as crew. the trip took 13 months & a little over 23,000 nm. Feel free to ask me anything about this.

Just checking to make sure the world really is round - i can verify this. Seriously though, it was just something i always wanted to do, even though had no previous sailing experience. I guess it was just one of those challenges/ dreams you get in your head & go for.

The most difficult part of the trip physically was the sleeping/ watch schedule where you never get to sleep for more than 3 1/2 hrs @ a time. Being at sea for weeks at a time w/ no one to talk to but your brother (who you no longer want to talk to, because you have said all there is to say) wears on a person mentally. Also limited access to food.

What was the most danger you were in on the trip? Did this help your college/grad school applications?

? no? didn't know he was a sailor

we were in a major storm off the coast of south africa, just before coming aound the cape of good hope, I was pretty sure we were going to die during that storm. we were also chased by pirates/fishermen off the coast of east timor.

There was also a time when we thought we were being chased by pirates enroute to the galapagos, but it turned out to be the us navy (we had just had our daily ration of "special brownies").
