Guess the new default is the north route through South Dakota. Been there before but better than horrible Nebraska or consensus equally horrible northern Kansas.

#Thinman - Yes, I think we can manage another rOOTlette.

Bode-ist - Why Brown County, Indiana? I wikied it and don't understand.

PerDoom - Thanks for those recs, they look solid.

Brown County is a tourist trap with a bunch of niche shops with over priced stuff.

I'm working in ****ing bizarro world.

I have this coworker who is a racist moron. Hard-core trump, he dresses up as an SS officer for halloween every year, constantly harasses other employees and works the lowest position at the company without ever having advanced. He uses racial slurs and has had a confederate flag as his FB profile pic for over a year. Sometimes he wears a SS officer replica hat that has the double lightning symbol (don't know the name of it) that's a symbol for the SS, and in his dumbass mind i think he thinks it's ok because it's not a swastika. Anyway, keep in mind he deals with the public here. This has been going on for 10+ years.

So, some newer employee mentions to the racist coworker how he heard he was a nazi. Coworker loses his mind, wants to know who said this, etc. The new guy said "uhh, everyone" and my idiot coworker got it in his head that I was going around telling everyone that, and that I think that "just because we hold opposite political views." So he tells my boss.

lol. So, for the record, I didn't say this about him, but it's a well known fact because uhhh just look what he wears to work for one. So my boss approaches me tonight, and I **** you not, reprimands me and asks me to "please refrain from using political speech in the workplace, particularly 'neo-nazi.'"

I lost my mind. I told him about the SS hat, the racist speech, etc., reiterated that no I ****ing did not say that about him recently but if I did I would not have one ****ing problem with it, and I don't want to work for a company that's okay with this behavior. He tried to backwheel and just said "ok so you didn't say it, that's good, we're done" and I said NO that's not the ****ing point, the ****ing point is you've had an employee that's worked here for a decade that wears a SS hat to work and you reprimand me for saying "nazi" to him, which I didn't. He said "I can't keep up to date on all the symbolism, there's always new things I'm not aware of" and I said "well let me give you a history lesson then, that symbol represents the organization that was responsible for the murder of millions, and you have an employee that wears it to work regularly."

Pretty much ended with him saying he'd talk to the coworker about wearing hate symbols and thanked me for being honest and upfront with him and to please tell him if I hear or see anything else in the future. What a moron.

Good luck avoiding your demise tomorrow jmakin. Your boss also sounds like a dope.

I'll be fine, coworker can't shoot for ****, i've seen him at the range
04-03-2017 , 02:17 AM
also it's not every day you get to yell at your boss and he apologizes to you and runs away. so not a bad day i guess
04-03-2017 , 02:45 AM
There you Goebbels.

If you're the captain how difficult can it be to get rid of the jerk? Write him up every time he uses a racial slur, rinse and repeat until fired.
04-03-2017 , 08:49 AM
I'm sure the milk carton has extensive personnel records and a crackerjack HR department that will get right on that.

Yea, i'm not the boss though

And unfortunately my boss always protects this guy

I dont want to see him fired necessarily but i want him to leave me the **** alone. I will probably sue the place someday. Our only minority employee, and my best crew member was severely punished for a minor offense recently that the racist employee did the same day and my boss did nothing. I brought that up in our conversation and he backpedaled hard.

Guy's a prick and incompetent. Oh well

Perhaps a 'customer' should write in a complaint saying they have been racially abused by the nazi dickhead and threatening the press / lawsuit. That should see him gone pretty quickly.
04-03-2017 , 12:24 PM
Not a bad idea. I know a few that hate him and would be down for that.

you mentioned Hoosier Nat Forest, which I was thinking was Brown Co State Park for some reason. Its a decent spot to hike (for Indiana) and would be a quick detour off 65 heading north.

yeah, not advocating to go to Nashville or anything. Figured a drive/hike through the forest area would be nice.

For those of you who visit LA to play cards etc, you might be interested to read that the Bike got raided:

Federal authorities raid Bicycle Hotel and Casino in Bell Gardens

Not really that interesting, just money laundering, but this quote makes the article:

Quote:
Kenneth Taylor, 53, of Los Angeles, said his sister was on the casino floor around 7:30 a.m. when federal agents entered the game room floor and instructed players to leave their chips on the table and exit the area.

Taylor, a regular Paigow player who said he comes to the Bicycle almost daily and loses “every day," said he always suspected the casino might become the target of an investigation one day.

"Let's put it like this. Gambling is a game of luck. I consider myself a lucky person," he said. "But you can never win at the Bicycle."
04-04-2017 , 02:43 PM
LFS,

That is 100% a genuine regular Paigow player!
04-04-2017 , 03:06 PM
Interesting: the article suggests that the investigation is related to individuals who are using the Bike as a laundromat, rather than suggesting it's an institutional issue. It reminds one of old stories about Jimmy Chagra.
