Honestly Have no Idea where to post this but here it goes.I Recently got a job that pays pretty well and is relatively stress free, but the only thing is I have to get licensed through the DoJ which includes a full background check including 10 years of employment history, and how I supported myself when unemployed. Ive played poker for about 3 years and it has been my only income for about 6 months total in that time. So given how the DoJ feels about Online poker, I feel like I have really no chance of getting a license, but would like to know others opinions on it. Does anybody have any experience with something like this? Am I totally ****ed? Any advice would be appreciated.

Some here will disagree, but I don't think "pro poker player" plays well on a typical resume. Some exceptions notwithstanding; certainly some businesses might value it and if you were a name player that could help your case. Gambling doesn't sell well for some people.

However, here you've already got the job and are just talking about a thorough BCG, so I wouldn't worry about it that much. They're going to check employment history, criminal history, credit, and depending on your job you could be talking bank records and disclosing assets and that sort of thing.

*The big question is whether you declared your poker income and paid taxes. If not, then I definitely wouldn't bring it up (if you think poker could hurt you imagine what tax evasion looks like). You were unemployed and burned through some savings to get by, your parents helped you, whatever.

I honestly dont know if there going to check bank records, they didn't ask for any of my bank info even though im sure they could easily get it. If they do tho I don't know how im gonna explain the large western union transactions to random countries and 3k checks when my parents are broke.

Tell them the money is from your gay prostituting days. They can't discriminate against that anymore.
