Re: Apple iPad Thread
I was in the light browsing category and every now and then use FB app, CNBC app, mail, and rarely a few others.
But now I'm addicted to Words with Friends, and switching back and forth between that and the browser constantly. In doing so I realize that app-switching on iPad has a long way to go to be really ready for primetime. Everytime I load words with friends it takes at least 15 seconds to figure all it's **** out and load the page, even if I just had it open. And half the time when I go back to the browser it has to reload everything.
Also if I go straight to WWF from the pull-down thing at the top, it screws up even more and has all kinds of weirdness as opposed to if I switch either by going to the home page or by double-clicking the home button and then switching. I realize this may be on WWF some for bad architecture - but should there ever be any difference in accessing the apps different ways? I blame Apple at least partially for not making that stuff idiot proof.
I figure all this will be smooth as silk in a few years and with greater processing power. But I never realized how wonky switching apps was on the ipad before getting into WWF. This is one area where Android actually has apple beat.

Re: Apple iPad Thread
I mostly use my Ipad for reading and watching movies while in bed. That is probably 80-90% of my time spent with the device.
Really cool picture suzzer99.
I know this will result in a lmgtfy-link, but what is the difference between word with friends and wordfeud? I'm banned from google.

Safari and Flipboard make up 99% of my iPad time. Facebook, imdb, and The Weather Channel apps make up the other 1%. Definitely not using it to full capabilities.

I believe the app maker is responsible for taking advantage of app switching but may be thinking of something else.
I use mine primarily for web browsing and email when not at a computer, also use it a lot for reading books and WWF. Have been hooked on a couple of games but nothing else recently. The gmail client is much better than running gmail through Apple's mail client.

Re: Apple iPad Thread
Sorry, grunching this thread because its massive and I never considered an ipad until one just fell into my lap. I'm sure its been covered but does anyone have any recommendations for good apps for school (like pdf. annotation software) or anything of that nature I might not even think of.

It won't help with the delays and such, but at least turn on multi-tasking gestures to make it easier to do. (Settings -> General, near the bottom.)
Swipe four or five fingers left or right to switch to next or previous app, swipe up with four to see app bar, pinch with all five to bring up home screen.

Re: Apple iPad Thread
Probably more than 25% of my usage is remote desktop with either Jump or Splashtop. At home with my N router, Jump is very good. Sometimes I just like using the Win7 Chrome experience to web browse vs. Safari.
I use Splashtop to watch gaming streams (flash).
Oh and probably another 25% is Alien Blue for reddit

Re: Apple iPad Thread
Is there any reason to use splashtop over air-video for streaming video from computer -> ipad?
I bought splashtop for that purpose (due to recommendations ITT) but i find it suboptimal.
I then tried air-video which is awesome. No lag or delays, everthing just feels smooth.
I still use splashtop for remote control though, so it's not completely wasted.

Take a look at Evernote, it helps to compose and keep your notes together.

Splashtop is really only good for playing flash video imo.
For pure remote Jump has a better interface. For regular video, Air Video is better like you say, or YouTube app, etc.

Re: Apple iPad Thread
Guys, seriously check out the Jenga iPad app. It's amazing IMO, you don't expect that kind of quality out of a "corporatized" game.

I tried it on iPhone. Didn't really get hooked. It's cool to look at though.
