right, but I was assuming he's talking about songs it doesn't match
anything it matches it just gives him the legit one for free (well, $24.99/year) so he then uses non-pirated (and likely higher quality) version from then on
a $24.99 charge to legitimize 12 years of pirated content (based on napster '99)

they don't confirm you purchased it, just that it's on your hard drive
I can come over to your house with a 1TB drive full of music and plug it into your USB port and then have you run the matching service on the drive and your account now has all that music as legit copies

FYI - you can already do this with Firefox. I had to do it manually in 3.5, not sure if it was automatic in 4.0. Type about :config in the address bar, search for swipe. My settings are:
browser.gesture.swipe.down; cmd_scrollBottom
browser.gesture.swipe.left; Browser:BackOrBackDuplicate
browser.gesture.swipe.right; Browser:ForwardOrForwardDuplicate
browser.gesture.swipe.up; cmd_scrollTop

Re: Apple iPad Thread
I don't know why you guys are so afraid to try other browsers. Mercury blows Safari away in every category. There are some other good ones as well AFAIK. And I'm the "I just want it to work and be simple" guy.

Re: Apple iPad Thread
Confirmed no longer losing our webpages when moving between tabs in Safari?
"Safari appears to cache pages when not active so you don't have to reload them when you switch back and forth."
#winning
i also like the new OS-wide text shortcuts...you can setup any combination of letters/numbers/symbols to type anything you want...so if I have a really long password for websites like foiuwflekwsndi32432ldf!@@3jejdlfkjsd I could set up pw1=foiuwflekwsndi32432ldf!@@3jejdlfkjsd and then I just type pw1 on my iDevice instead of the long-ass password. or setup npmail=myemail@mydomain.com so I don't have to type out my email all the time

Re: Apple iPad Thread
I'm not scurd.
Grabbed it last night after your post. Really like it. One deal breaker for me in past attempts to switch from Atomic has been that I have become completely hooked on the transparent buttons at the bottom of the screen and I really rely on having a back button in the lower right. Mercury has it available in fullscreen, but I tend not to use fullscreen much.
Either way, I like this browser a lot so far, so I'll give it a shot for a while.

Re: Apple iPad Thread
So apple changed their terms for in-app content so Netflix, won't be affected
Only if you have a purchase link in the app do you have to also allow purchase via iTunes and lose 30%
If u do that, then you can also charge more to make up for the 30%
Basically, u only pay apple if u use their marketing ecosystem and payment processing

Yeah i forgot all this conversation was going on here. Posted this in the iphone thread. For the record, I think this is clarifying their policy, not changing it.

11.14 Apps can read or play approved content (specifically magazines, newspapers, books, audio, music, and video) that is subscribed to or purchased outside of the app, as long as there is no button or external link in the app to purchase the approved content. Apple will not receive any portion of the revenues for approved content that is subscribed to or purchased outside of the app.
|
So basically they have no intention of charging for services or subscriptions purchased outside the application, as myself and others have speculated. Their 30% only applies to apps that include a way to purchase content inside their application. They are forbidden from creating a buy button that links to an external purchase platform.
