Don't you think if you could hook it up yourself, they would give you that option instead of costing themselves a truck roll?

I think they charge you to come out and hook up your cable.

OP,

Yes, you can hook it up yourself. "They", obviously, do not want you to have that information. You will need a wrench, an underwater soldering iron (not to be used underwater, but US cable connections require that specific temperature), a phillips screwdriver, several rubber bands, and a few square feet of tar paper. Reply here when you have the items and I will walk you through it.

Gonna need a key to get into the box tho. I would suggest you pick up a lock-picking kit, OP.

Never had TWC, but this seems pretty standard in what I would consider the industry that provides the worse service, in the US at least (Even worse than cell phone providers).

Depends a lot on the locality. It took them months to diagnose what was making my internet cut out, and they basically refused to put a new modem in. What do you know, it was a bad modem.

Dropped them for Uverse, now get good service.

I always had way more issues with Comcast than Time Warner fwiw. Makes time warner seem totally awesome by comparison. Comcast has been a nightmare in a couple of places I've lived.

I was accused of stealing cable one time. Hadn't paid my bill and they evidently intended to shut it off and somebody from their crew reported that they did. They must have done the wrong house though because I never had a problem. A month later they are calling me and accusing me of cutting whatever thing in the box outside they put on to block the cable and that they were going to file federal charges against me. I had no idea Wtf they were talking about but they were really mad at me for going into the box in the apartment complex and stealing the cable somehow. They has the logs from the guy saying it had been done but since I was still getting cable that proved messed with it.

They were pretty reluctant to believe that their own engineer could have messed up somehow. All I could say was that I had no what they were talking about.

Look through neighbors' windows, and see if they have cable boxes. If they do, break in when they're not home. Watch cable. Otherwise you're SOL for 12 days.

There are lots of things that need to happen for your cable to start working (mostly on their office end). It's not like a gas pump, where they leave a few drops in the pump and you can drink it. The only exception to this is if the previous tenant accidentally left the cable hooked up. To test if this is the case, grab one of the cable wires, plug it into the outlet, and plug into your TV. If it works, you hit the lottery, if it doesn't use my first or second piece of advice.

When I recently had my Comcast hooked up, I was slightly surprised that when I just hooked up the existing cable to my TV, I got a lot of the basic cable channels like USA, ESPN, MTV, etc. Of course, a couple days later they sent a guy to hook up my box (which looks more like a radar detector than a box), and then I got all the channels, but trying this might tide you over for those two weeks before they get to you.

That's the lottery method.

Yeah that radar looking thing is a digital adapter. Makes it so you can get the channels without needing a "box".

OP's not wanting to steal cable service. He's merely inquiring if expedited service is available.

Lol, sorry wasnt trying to steal it. I called TW 3 times today because somebody told me depending on what customer service rep you talk to they can expedite connection. On the third call they said the can send someone out tomorrow so thankfully I won't have to wait.
