I think the "feel young inside your head" experience can continue even when you're a senior citizen. At some point I realized this when talking to my husband's grandpa. I've found it to be true as I've gotten older.
Your body will betray you and remind you of the miles you've put on it, but inside your head you can be whatever age you choose.

Way easier. They don't have to know how old you are, either. They'll just assume you are late 20s. With age comes confidence.

Re: Is Age 30 Considered Young In This Society Today They Say "30's The New 20's" Is The True ?
Your adult age clock doesn't start ticking until you have moved out of your parents house for good. In the old days, that was either when you where 18, if you went straight to work with no college, or 21, when you finished college in 4 years. Then you were on your own, so by the time you were 30, you had been a full adult for 9-12 years.
Today, it seems many kids are staying home longer, even returning home after taking 7 years to get their college completed. So yes, those 30 year old people are really like someone 18-21 used to be in terms of having to mature in order to deal with the responsibilities of adulthood.
Hope that makes you feel young!

Re: Is Age 30 Considered Young In This Society Today They Say "30's The New 20's" Is The True ?
my dad (a college prof) says that during his time it was easier to get through college in 4 years, because there were fewer requirement that needed to be fulfilled.
at my college, for instance, we have a second language requirement, a writing course requirement, two literature courses required, and a minimum number of non-major courses required, I think this is retarded as this really does not help my employability in any way and is just a headache/hoop I must jump through because some administrator thought they would 'broaden the horizons' of the undergrad students via mandate. I have a quantitative major, btw.

Yeah, I'm 41 but in my head I still feel pretty much like I'm 25 or something...maybe a better and more calm and slightly more mature version of me. But really pretty much the same. I never expected 41 to feel so much the same when I was 25.

I'm 27 and I feel old as ****. My reflexes are getting slower, energy levels are definitely lower, I can't pull all-nighters as easily as I used to back in HS/college, and when I stay at hostels I'm basically a dinosaur compared to the usual 18-24 year olds.
I'm not looking forward to 30 at all.

I'll be 35 this year and the main downside is that I can't jump as high or sprint as fast as I could at 25.
Other than that, I feel pretty young. My expectation is that -- given advances in medicine -- my generation will be feeling as good in our 50s as the previous generation felt in their 30s. And then on our 100th birthdays, we'll all get sweet-ass robot bodies.

Re: Is Age 30 Considered Young In This Society Today They Say "30's The New 20's" Is The True ?
I've never felt like I was getting old or even looked old even though I started getting some gray hairs a couple years ago and I'm 32. Then I realized I've been losing my hair for the last 3-4 years and NOW I feel old.
Caring about something as stupid as hair is retarded, but alas, its been a defining moment for me to realize I need to grow up.
ANYWAY....

Re: Is Age 30 Considered Young In This Society Today They Say "30's The New 20's" Is The True ?
Looking at all of my friends Id say it depends if the person has a family and is part of it or not. Once my friends had kids it they just went to work/family mode for the most part and have very little time to be young and hang out. One thing that is super common is just them stressing more then my single friends for obvious reasons.
On the flipside me and my single friends still pretty much live kinda like we did when we were 20 but with obvious upgrades to the lifestyle and maturity but we are still just the same as we were as teenagers. Making money, hooking up with chicks and during down time getting high and having fun.
Im aiming to having kids right around 50......

To a large degree, people saying "30 is the new 20" etc are just people that are nearing 30 and trying to feel young again.
There is a slight bit of truth to it, but it depends hugely on lifestyle. My brother had 2 toddlers by 30 but lived single in New Orleans at 20. Pretty sure they aren't the same for him.
