Yeah Crash is terrible regardless of the oscar field that year. It's just a bad movie. Brokeback got robbed.

Looks like I have a new movie(s) to watch then

I would make some angry rant about how Brokeback > Crash, but it's been said before by many people more eloquent than me, and that ship sailed a long time ago.

still think Crash was excellent. I think that year had Munich and Capote and Brokeback in it as well. didnt see capote or brokeback. Thought Munich was excellent as well. but the pool wasnt that strong that year

Yeah... when Crash came out, then won Best Picture - there were a lot of threads in 2p2 explaining very clearly why it is a terrible, just awful movie. So no need to rehash, if you're curious I'd search the archives, and pay particular attention to Mikech's posts (who IIRC absolutely dominated these threads with his insight).

i feel like crash is only reviled because it won best picture. on it's own, it was an ok movie, but yea, definitely least deserving to win of all the nomineees

oh ya, jim carrey also should have won best actor for truman show and somehow wasn't even nominated. that was hilarious

+whatever to Crash being unfairly reviled.

Driving Miss Daisy is the worst BP imo.

I wouldn't recommend watching them back to back. I think the sequel does a really nice job playing with your memories and you don't want the original fresh in your head when you watch the sequel.

I recently watched both and agree with this. I had them both on my PVR and took a week or two between both. Both are amazing, next time I watch 'em I'll do a double bill.

On an Oscar note. I stopped caring about the winners last year. I always have my favorite(s) and if they don't win, that doesn't change how much I love those films. It would have been great to see Hugo win, but I have no say in the matter. That said I'm glad The Artist won, I'm catching it again after work today.

Yes. It's been argued ad nauseum, but boy howdy Crash is a stinker.

I've always been this way. I like to see the things I like get some recognition, but I don't really care who wins which awards. If they're nominated for BP or for a few other categories, it's all good.

I generally only get mad when something like Drive gets basically zero nominations. The one sound thing barely counts.

Failing to win an award is almost never a real snub, because momentum and politics and the weird demographics that make up the voters play with the winners in odd ways. On the other hand, it's a HUGE snub for Drive to not even get any real nominations.

Always thought Jim Carrey should have at least been nominated in 1999 for Man on the Moon.
