Just got Volume I of this and as I'm reading the book, I want to share the hands and ask some questions about them that weren't answered within.
Seat 6 is said to be a 'strong' player.
1. On the flop, we face a pot-sized bet from the pre-flop aggressor (if you can call a min-raise in the 10/20 limits aggressive). Not only that, but a cold call from Seat 6.
I agree with folding here. However, I want to imagine the hand went a little differently...
1. Say seat 6 folded here. We faced the pot sized bet of Seat 3. In this spot, what's best - raise/call/fold?
2. Say we knew Seat 6 is a fishy, extremely loose caller on the flop, even with two players behind. Is the best decision still to fold this?
It worked out perfectly for seat 6 (MP2) who managed to see a flop for cheap for set mining.
Hero was also set mining as he didn't reraise the min-raise pre-flop.
1. If Seat 6 folded, you should reraise to ask the question whether your hand is good. That is the flop you want to see with a pair of tens, and you are now only worried about a higher pocket pair.
However, seat 4 played out the hand as if he had a premium pair and I would have folded to a check raise on the river without a set.
2. I would have folded if a fishy seat 6 had called. You are putting in a large bet and need to hit a set to hope to be good. If you don't hit it on the turn, you would have to fold to a lot of action on the river.
