Hey guys,

Just a quick message to request some advice, I've played tournament poker before, not a complete newbie as far as rules go. But I've recently ventured into the micro stakes and so far it's been nothing but ugly. So obviously I don't want to leak cash. I don't want to be bugging people on here every two minutes with questions about terminology or strategy etc. I've noticed some suggestions as to software to review my play. But seeing as I know nothing about any of this and hope to play the micro stakes and at least break even in the short term. I thought I'd ask if anybody can point me in the right direction as to reading materials/ videos/ software (including how I might use it) etc. Also if anyone would share their experiences when starting out perhaps to boost morale a little ha!

Thanks in advance!

Millzy

This is the reading materials section so I'll address that.

You have discovered that you could be doing some things better. Congratulations, this is like the 12 step program, admitting you have a problem is step one.

Are you only playing tournaments? If you are playing cash games, there are other choices of the same types of books to pick from.

step one: admit you have a problem - check
step two: buy a math book (Poker Math that Matters (cash) or the math of hold'em (this one has tournament math but isn't as well written.)
step three: buy a theory book
step four: buy a psychology book
step five: consider buying a bankroll, strategy or hand reading book
step six: read books, apply knowledge
step seven: evolve fish-donk

Or did you want just one book? Then read Phil Gordon's Little Green Book
