Re: Strategy for mid level MTTs
Totally disagree with the HOH recommendation -- While HOH was a great resource in its day, it has no relation to today's tournaments IMO. Advice in HOH (just to give two examples) actually includes raising bigger pre with JJ or QQ because overs might come on the flop, and folding AQs in the early stages of a tournament to a few limps and a standard raise. There's just much better stuff out there for tournament players in 2012.
I would recommend the first volume of Jonathan Little's Secrets of Professional Tournament Poker (not the second, which is a lot of poker lifestyle stuff and which I personally found disappointing). The Winning Poker Tournaments One Hand at a Time series (while discussing online hands) is great for in-depth hand analysis, but I would go with the first Jonathan Little book for mtt theory (with plenty of practical examples, too).
