How they work is an RNG + blinks and beeps to entertain infants and toddlers.

How to beat them without cheating: press "spin" or pull the lever, get lucky and then quit forever.

It would be hard to fill a book with that.

"Addiction by Design" by Natasha Schull has a lot of research, much of it academic, about how designers create slot machines, and casinos situate them, to be maximally appealing.

But anything thing that presents itself as some sort of slot machine strategy book is essentially going to be a scam. Slot machines cannot be beaten in expectation.

Hi BigStack650:

Here's a couple of books for you:

https://www.amazon.com/Slots-Clueles...sap_bc?ie=UTF8

https://www.amazon.com/John-Patrick-...sap_bc?ie=UTF8

By the way, they're complete garbage. Bbut this sounds like what you want.

Best wishes,
Mason

Thanks Mason and I do want the nonsense! I may be speaking with a company who makes social gaming slot machines so I want to understand how/why/where/when people play and think about slots

The only way I could ever see someone winning at slot machines is if he/she/they were playing each and every time with some really large progressive jackpot.

Sounds like the kind of information that might be found in a text used by people learning the gaming industry, perhaps also a text on psychology. People with that background might be found at blogs or websites catering to those topics. This site is mainly gamblers who look at the issue from a different perspective, and most info published for gamblers is complete nonsense. Don't know of any sites offhand, but good luck hunting. Also, maybe find some information on UNLV website.

Additionally, search under gaming industry in books on Amazon. A number of titles there that might have the info you seek.

No books can help you as there are no strategies for slot machines. There are some general pieces of advice, but not strategies

op, good topic. thank you...

i assume you can't beat slot machines but presumably you can greatly improve your loss rate and by extension your safe play time by taking some actions.

i think the subject is very interesting - why people get hooked on slots so much - and has application far beyond casinos.
