I am currently reading this book. I am at the section where it advocates calling instead of raising in many situations.
Paraphrased from the book:

Isn't your hand the best hand here most of the time, and you have equity raising here? Sure, you don't win many times, but you win more often than the split sevens for example.
Where does the equity go, to the 987, or live flush draw?
